I want some new repeaters for the front of the pick up. it had horrible 80s efforts on it. I don't want the land rover/mini style lucas ones and I think they're too big. so, is there law type rules for the size of front indicators - can i use modern side repeaters on the front ? and does anyone have an idea for some? i like the real small ones on Elans etc (like 'pips')... if they're small enough i'll put them in the grill... ;D

Don't Mk2 Puntos have tiny lil side 'cators? I think they're clear though, unless that suits you sir! ;D
I can't remember the value, but you will need an inline resistor to make them flash at the correct speed though.
Legality wise, I don't think there is a law as such for sizes of indicators, there is probably some tosh about positioning though. Really, it's down to how picky/un-picky you're local garage is come mot time! but as long as they flash orange, and they're not giving out free epileptic fits, anything should be fine!

they only have to be a certain height from the floor to pass mot
people put them in headlamps on beetles and have seen beetles with side repeaters as front indicators

I don't see why there'd be a legal issue, as Hairnet says there are loads of VWs and hot rods and stuff that run about with tiny little indicators inside the headlamp bowl and stuff like that, and there are loads of modern cars with really small indicators, also in the headlamp cluster often, look at a mkII Punto, those indicators can't even be that practical, I imagine you wouldn't be able to see the indicator flash very well with the headlamp on with those motors, and that's a fully type approved production motor, so I doubt your Marina would get any strife for a little indicator behind hte grille or something.

people put them in headlamps on beetles and have seen beetles with side repeaters as front indicators that's what i originally wanted to do but they already have side lights in the bowl... If I can't find any indicators i like i might swap them and have a small side light elsewhere... do you HAVE to have side lights ??

Well if your side lights are already in the headlamp bowl then you don't need any others...like Mk3 Marinas.

could always 'angel eye' the sidelights and then use the ex-sidelight bulbs for indicators?
angel eyes don't HAVE to look tacky, it's just they're most often seen on tacky motors.

just use the sidelight hole for the indicators and do away with the sides Nah, the car will fail come mot time, been there, done that, you have to have front parking lights as well as rears. Marina_V8, no worries dude, thought they might do the trick, and if we're all honest, all of our other halves must think we're potty at times! ;D
