Ciao Retroisti....
I know that there's a fair share of J-Car freaks here on the forum that might be aware of this new trend in the Land of the rising sun....
It all started with the "scooter-freaks" in Tokyo, they built and spent a huge amount of time and yen on their rides but when sticking all the cool decals on their rides the flow on the left side (sitting on the scoot) looked real cool but when puting them on the right side the flow did not turn out as good (feng shui???) so they started to get mirror images made of the stickers and put those on the right side, now the flow looked right and a bonus was when driving by big shop windows you could check out your ride and the stickers would be readble in your mirror image, WAY COOL!!!!!
This has now spread into the drifting community over there and you'll see a bunch of drifting cars with stickers mirrored on the right side, saw some pix of this (can't find them now but I'll guess there are a bunch of you with pix of this) and first thought was, hmm they'll turned the picture around but NOO.....
I was told this by some scooter-freak connections I have in Japan and according to them this is spreading like wildfire over there and Yamaha even has a Rossi Replica R1 done this way, IMHO it's way cool, who has not driven down a city street looking at the mirror image of your ride in the shop windows??? What do you guys think, will it catch on here in the west?? I don't see many decaled cars so it might not but in the PVC scooter sceene there's a lot of don't like & yeahh way cool talk and there's a couple of Dutch projects going on with this....
Those guys over there are quite innovative....

I imagine it might well catch on in the West, sounds like it's done a bit more tastefully than the ned-wagons round here with the silly "shopping list" decals down the doors and all the rest of it, although I dare say they'll end up copying that look. Mind you if all these neds in the clapped out Puntos with silly bodykits want to imitate the Japanese drifting scene getting a decent motor and not sticking half a tonne of PVC bodykit to it might be a good start! ;D

revolution9 in da house: I imagine it might well catch on in the West, sounds like it's done a bit more tastefully than the ned-wagons round here with the silly "shopping list" decals down the doors and all the rest of it, although I dare say they'll end up copying that look. Mind you if all these neds in the clapped out Puntos with silly bodykits want to imitate the Japanese drifting scene getting a decent motor and not sticking half a tonne of PVC bodykit to it might be a good start!Woohhaaa do I sence some issues here...... I could never look down or critisize something built or made by someone else, sure I'm no big fan of Troy Trepanier or Boyd Coddington built cars, Orange County Chopper bikes but who am I to say that their work is less worth than a Jesse Rooke or for that mather anny one else that has done his/hers best to style, tune or build a bike, scoot or car to his/her taste.... Have had this discussion on manny Forums I cruise, some are so quick to come with criticism, sadly not often of the constructive kind and this makes me sad, think of these neds in the clapped out Puntos (as you call them), maybe they go off to work every day to be able to get another part for their car the day the paycheck lands, he/she is just as happy as a clam with the ride and think it's KILLER, who am I (or annyone else) to jump him/her and try to enforce my taste on him/her? I build my cars & bikes for me and me only and when I build for customers I do what they want to be done but if I feel it's not up to my standard I'd rather turn down the project than in the end put my name on something I can't stand for but that's a whole other discussion.... I think this could be another topic for another day.... Ps. Revolution9, this is NOT aimed at you but more at a general me & them attitude in certain groups.... Ds Pps. Don't mean to hurt annyones feelings... Dds.

I’m all for dissing neds in clapped out puntos with sad ‘shopping lists’ on the doors and w*nker lights on the washer jets, 80% of the cars seen on barryboys are so obviously assembled without the slightest skill or thought to the look/quality of the finished product that they leave themselves wide open to abuse. I’m making a distinction between these cars and the ones which are supposedly ‘show cars’ which in many cases despite being horrendously unattractive do at least demonstrate impressive skills in their construction.
By the same token, if someone wants to rip the p*ss out of my Mazda koop they're more than welcome to, I realise that by dissing other folks cars I can’t complain if someone wants to diss mine.

I agree with everybody ;D It is a shame when something is copied badly, but then again at least that person is trying to emulate something that they believe to be attractive... Therefore at least they recognise it in the first place, instead of blind ignorance as demonstrated by the larger part of the populace. When I comment on other peoples vehicles, I always like to think I do so with a level head, I don't sit on the fence, I just respect the effort, time and money invested by somebody. No matter how little that might appear to be... In short, people with other interests to my own particularly intrigue and interest me. Why would somebody spend 32K modifying a Saxo? You can either dismiss said person or take a look at their personal and social situation and learn something from it, it's often fascinating. No matter how much you might dislike that person yourself. That one was for you Rev9, not quite up to your legendary rant status, but damn it feels good. Back on topic, reverse graphics have always looked good. Not sure if you'll have seen it before Dp, but back in the day a favourite was to write 'move over' in reverse on your front bumper... It would appear you can learn from the strangest of places if you look hard enough...

When you read those reversed graphics the right way round, do they suggest you sell your soul to Satan? Or am I getting confused with old heavy metals LP's?

I'm right now doing a give-away MiniMotard for the Swedish Skin importer www.skinindustries.com where I will do just that, reverse logos in the right side.....

asconadaz in da house: Is that true? And if so, why?According to a good friend and 2002 Turbo collector, he has one white with 380km on the odo, one silver and one white that he drives every now and then, the reverse 2002 Turbo graphics was concidered to "provoking" by people in traffic safety in Germany when the car was shown and supposedly only the first of the cars was delivered with it before BMW decided to remove them, looks cool though..... That's cool! Now I want one! I wonder if that's where the stereotypical image of BMWs bearing down on you on the motorway, expecting you to GET OUT OF THE WAY came from?

my dad used to have one of these retro bad boys, i think it was retro even then... as a wee child i thought it was dogs rolloks having a turbo an all!!! along with the other debate, irol had some good points, but if everyone starts doing this sticker thing it could get a bit dull, sounds cool ATM BTW.

Does that mean Volvos have the opposite effect on people, I should have 'pull out in front of me' written on mine... Maybe that's why I've bought a BMW

That one was for you Rev9, not quite up to your legendary rant status, but damn it feels good. Don't worry, keep practising and you'll soon be making rants you can be proud of! ;D ;D Actually, point noted, that my post was a little narrow minded, thanks for pointing that out you lot, and I'll try and be more objective next time. See that's what I like about this forum, disagreement done properly, rather than unneccesary bickering and flaming like you might get on some other forums.

Going back to the first page with regards to Revolution9's 'Rant' (Which I can understand) and dp's 'answer' (which I do sympathise with). Perhaps dp might not know the 'Stereotype' car idiot that we have in Great Britain (although I'm sure they have the equivalent in Scandinavia). In Britain (and we all know) the average stereo type drives a Corsa, Saxo or Punto (Novas have now become to old for them to manage with ;D) which they stick 18inch wheels on (which mess up handling), Bean can Exhaust back box (which messes up Back pressure), 'Ice Lights' and so on . In America I believe it is the Honda Civic that is a popular 'Wally Wagon' for the Kids and in Germany a few years ago it was the Opel Manta that all the 'nutcases' wanted... ...I am of course making utter generalisations. For example: I help run/moderate on another forum called the GTiOwnersClub and it has a lot of peugeot 106's GTi's (it also has oldskool GTi's of other makes and any vehicle is infact welcome . Now I expect you are all thinking it's full of 'Chav's/BarryBoys/Wallys' ......None at all. Despite a fair number of 'Young People' with Hot hatches in the club these 'kids' absolutely despise Magazines such as 'Sad'n'Sour (M*x P*wer), silly driving or these unofficial 'Cruses' and so on. And as dp said they look forward to their next pay cheque so that they may buy another accessory. Due to the money they have spent on their car they want to look after it hence no stupid behavour or reckless driving. As always in life it is the silly minority that get noticed and ruin it for the polite and sensible majority .

He who casts the first stone and all that.
It's very easy to rip into the boy racers but in all fairness there is some real fashion following on here. In fact compared to most forums I'd say this one is the most style concious.
It's a bit like the way all anti-fashion people rip into things like burberry but all have their own strict anti-cool ways of dressing with things like doc martins. Conforming to non-comformity as I like to call it.
And don't take that as some kind of condescending observation because I class myself strongly into the whole (anti)fashion bracket myself.
I just agree with the others that you have to be open minded about this area and accept that others have different tastes and reasons and by ripping into people like boy racers you could be acting like a hypocrit.
