Hello all ;D I might be buying a Volvo 480 tomorrow, the only fault on it is the (electric) Speedo has stopped working. Does anyone know how this is fixed, I've had a look on google but all I've found is scary stuff of huge bills! lol... maybe a sign! If anyone's got any experience of these I'd love it if they could help me out... as it all hinges on this! Thanks for any help... here's a different volvo for your troubles... I can't find a good 480... and my mouse is broken! lol Ryan ;D

I wouldn't worry about it - if the whole thing hinges on the speedo, I'd buy it anyway! It can only be the speedo, transducer or wiring and all of those are available from a scrappy (might take some searching). Unless someone with specific experience knows better, I'd not be worried at all! Worst case scenario and it's horrifically expensive, you'll have to get a sat nav and read the speed off that.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

It's the plug where it goes into the back of the speedo head, PCB and terminal connections get curse word on these. Easy job on the whole, no parts needed just patience. Loom is a tad tight, make sure every pin is pushed in once you've plugged the connector back on.

As above, but might also be dry joints on the instrument panel. Not the end of the world as long as you can use a soldering iron.

An easy fix! Check all the grounding points as well. Worst case is swapping the binnacle which aint hard. (20 min job).
480 electrics are curse word. I have a 480 turbo and it is sick! Loads of fun... And I cured ALL electrical faults in an afternoon! :-)
