Alpine 7294r 25watt + 25watt, has a pull out arm as seen in the photo, has a scuff on the screen also in the photo, cd changer control, radio cassette, has the big green buttons and is assumed to be in working condition. I havnt used it myself so cant guarantee this but should imagine its ok - I was told it works. comes with the outer bit to mount to the dash and lots of cables, its not a plug and play type but the cables are all labeled so easily wired in if you can do that sort of thing. its in brighton so you can collect from there or south kent area otherwise ill post it anywhere for about £7. £35 or offers ![](http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/7190/alpine.jpg)

Have you tried powering it up? 2 wires and a battery ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) May be interested but not unless i know it works, or at the very least powers up.

damn, I think thats the same one I had in my Capri in 1988! you should buy it for your current capri! that would give retro a whole new meaning! perhaps we could call it nostalgia? Have you tried powering it up? 2 wires and a battery ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) May be interested but not unless I know it works, or at the very least powers up. havnt tried giving it power, i get scared of these sort of things usually. give me a bit more info on how to go about doing this properly without burning anything out and ill give it a shot ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) at the moment I'm thinking jump leads and car battery or is that entirely wrong?

Has it got wiring, or is it on a plug thats missing? just link black wire to 12v earth and red wire to live. Sometimes the yellow wire will need to be put to live too. Thats as long as it has wires there ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) It should just come on then. If you have spare hands you can pop a tape in and see if it will play it. Cant test output without some speakers though. But, if it powers up it will probably all work ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

its a bunch of loose wires, theres a red and a yellow wire which both go in to a fuse box and out the other side, theres also a black wire and bunch of others including some phono leads.
i got a 12v adapter out but couldnt figure out a safe way of doing it, so ill leave it till the sun comes out and have a play under the bonnet of the car and see what happens! ill try find a tape also

right, just tried it all rather cack handedly, I'm not sure wether its working or not as its got 2 power leads. i tried the red one on the battery and put the black on the strut brace and tried with my chin to turn it on. nothing happened as such but then again I'm not quite sure i got any proper connection or even managed to turn it on.
is there a way to test it with a multimeter and should i be putting the other fused wire some wherE?

sometimes they will need both the red and yellow wires connected to live, and the black to earth.
Turn it on, then hold the wires to the batters, uses less hands.
If you can, put the wires to the battery terminal, then your not guessing whether you have a proper earth or not.

ok did as you said and it lights up, the green buttons have little red dots in them that light up and you press them they go on/off. don't have a cassette to try anything with but as i say it lit up. so its getting power as far as i can tell without anything else being plugged into it.
