The Chassis I have bought for the teardrop trailer project has what seems to be 4 x 140mm 13 inch wheels on. My bus which will ultimately tow it, has 5 x 205 15 inch wheels on. Can one have such wheels drilled to 4 x 140 at the factory if you get to communicate with them ? I do not want to go the adaptor route, as it adds cost, and also will push the wheels out another 30 mm or more. WHAT ALTERNATIVES Thanks for the advice.

I had a look here www.bikerlifestyle.co.uk/tech/pcd/pcd.html but the closest is the old beetle pcd but still no use but this is a uk chart, I did have a us chart but the law of sod says I cant find it now so there is the possibility something american may provide wheels but had a look on a couple of trailer sites and they all seem to use smaller dia pcd than that so a couple of suggestions are find the make of brakes/hub and see if they do drums with a more common pcd or is having the drums redrilled to the same as the van another option ttfn glenn found the one with yanks on it www.uk-hotrods.co.uk/v2/tech/suspension/pcd_chart.php

Grizz - are the caravan wheels not the same size as one of your vehicles on the drive ?

4x5.5" odd size indeed I can't think of anything common that has that (other than caravans...)

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Dave, bus now 5 x 205 , but you are right.
Problem is to try get something sexy.
Alternately I will have to band and get shiny caps and rings.

At a guess I would say because of the vast difference in the two pcd's you could get away with a relatively thin adapters ( say 15mm thick to keep the strength ) if you wanted to run matching wheels to the van and the price definately wouldn't break the bank PM me if you've got any questions mate .

Got the same pcd on my trailer tent I think. was hoping they would be 4 x 108 so I could put some D1s on to match the wheels I'm putting on both Madge and the Imp, but was not to be.

Thanks a lot, I may do, would love to have a set of Radars , the same as the bus on it. Problem will be adaptors at a sensible price to go from the 4 x 140 up to 5 x 205 .

Are you sure about the pcd, its just the trailer you purchased has what looks like an Alko chassis and they are normally 4x100 pcd. Edit: Oops, just looked at alko's website and they list 4x100 and 4x139.7, all the caravan stuff I use to move was 4x100.

wouldn't it be easier to redrill the drums and use bolts ? I had this thought on the drive home! Bizarre what I think of at times! But even the cost of having the drums / hubs re-drilled would be cheaper when you consider how much cheaper 4*100 or 4*108 wheels are! Rysz.

If you have them done equidistant from the originals (well you would wouldn't you? ) you can also revert to the originals any time you liked.
