RIGHT - QUESTION 2. Has anyone ever moved a caravan chassis/axle on the same chassis ? I suspect it will be a fairly simple job of unbolt, move, measure , drill, bolt in. However, other than alligning the axle perfectly, any other issues ?? I need to cut the chassis I have much shorter from the rear, as I do not want to mess with the "A-Frame" side. This needs to be done in order to get the look right, as well as the weightdistribution a bit more forward. Thanks all for your contributions so far. Pic of said chassis, the idea is to cut about 3foot or a meter off the rear, around about the small long hole bewtween the small ones just behind the wheel. OK, here goes. (again) Has anyone built a teardrop trailer, or even a small custom built caravan ? I need tips, things to avoid, and even plans and measurements if you have. Any advice or recommendation appreciated. Cheers.

Hi again Mark,
Dave built a trailer out of about 4 Taunuses, or at least the bits from them.
I like the teardrop idea though, and hope to go look at a caravan chassis for sensible money over the weekend.
I think the first thread I started was deleted by a sensible mod.

I know they look cool but they must be the most impractical caravans ever, also looks like it would take off at moderate speeds. Still want one though.

I agree, teardrops look fantastic. I imagine they can't be too hard as long as you keep the design nice and simple!

Thats basically what i'm building, but i'm using the back half a of a Range rover instead of a teardrop, bit heavy possibly, but working on the theory it'll go anywhere the Rangey towing it will go.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Right, just read these links, and I believe it is do-able.
Winter project identified, now just need to assemble the bts, use some common sense and build something.

My mate built one, pollished ally, split rear window divided by a aerofin, austin devon pickup spats over the wheels, took him forever, then sold it before he built the interior as the council were threatening to remove it as an obstruction, despite argueing it was a security device for his garage, as it was parked accross the front of his workshop doors, he lost and it had to go or be scrapped.

Atmo V8 Power . No slicks , No gas + No bits missing . Doing it in style. Austin A35van, very different------- but still doing it in style, going to be a funmoble
