Oh nice selection! Are you on retrobike? How do all these fine bikes compare? I mean DOGS BOLX is one of those iconic cool bikes though I have never ridden one. and the Surly the opposite, "How does it ride? It rides like a bicycle" type of thing! I saw a 1x1 in my local shop, a small frame and thought it looked great in the flesh so thats another one to rob me my future cash maybe, either that or a Cotic (simple, soul, BFe...) the Sunn I don't know a lot about TBh but looks decent too. Kruser is stunning too, be rude not to being down there an all!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

hi, Yes i'm on Retrobike. The D.B rides as you would imagine, Smooooth!! The Surly is a great frame and does everything very well.no frills well built cheapish! and handles nicely. The sunn is a rare beast on these shores, esspacially the Columbus built exact disc. the frame is one of those rare steel things of being both compliant and Stiff! I'm running a Ritchey 2x9 setup on as well. The kroozer is a new build that was only finished a couple of months ago. I wanted a bit of the 'old skool' but tried to get away from the same old ratters that are popping up everywhere!! So i'm now riding around on a tarts handbag!! Could be worse, could be a Spacialized! Al.

How does a soft tail work then? I can't see a pivot.

Your right, it doesn't! The beauty of quility steel is that it can flex. So no need for a pivot. There is only an inch or so of movement in the shock so the 16inch chainstays only need to flex a little along there length. The ride is fantasticly smooth, especialy when running a short travel fork. Both of the softails in this post are 1996 models and the Ritchey has been well used!! with no fatigue issues at all. Al.

The soft-tail is amazing, I REALLY want something like that and I thought that it was such a good idea that it must have been done, and now I've found what I'm looking for!
Is it me or does it have odd dropouts?

Odd drop outs?
It has a cowled dropout that curves in one piece. it can also be called a socket drop out when they are smaller.

Never seen one like that before. What's the advantage over a normal dropout?

Some lovely steel here Got some soft tail kinda flex in my old BSA girls bike, most of it comes from the seat tube which is very much showing fatigue (does make for comfy ride though). See your liking the flite saddle, always liked the look but never did really get comfy on one, guess I'm just not that hardcore. Again, nice rides
