lewskik78 in da house: looks like thats just blown it's coolant hosesNo coolant what so ever in those blocks, he blew a fuel line...... This vintage stuff i s real hard core, some of these cars use parts that are almost unobtainable wich makes this stuff for a select few, specially the Funny Car and A/FX cars...... inickyboi in da house: front engined slingshots in the last pic, is that two v6s? or one v12It's two flathead Ford V8's tandem, one more pix of it......

Study that picture closely and you all will se that the motor and even the frame is tilted slightly to the left (seen by the driver), this to compensate for the short wheel base and monster torque the motor is pulling to the right, otherwise this car would plow straight to the right off the line, well an Altered has never been blamed for going straight anyway. Yhis was the only way to get a "high motor" Altered to go down the 1/4 mile as fast as possible, after the Funny Cars evolved the Altered took more or less the shape of a Funny Car without the body, a bit longer, the motor mounted lower and that made a huge difference in ET's but NOT the show......

The Ford Flathead (1932-1955) had only 3 exhaust ports per side, with the invention of the Ardun OHV heads this was corrected but all Flatheads have 8 intake & 6 exhaust ports.....

Love the flamed '55. It's a shame that drag racing had to evolve really. The nostalgia stuff is far more interesting. Thank god for the Supercharged Outlaws and the Gasser Circus!
