heater matix in my daily runner has gone
ive done them on fords in the past but never a 306
been french heep junk lol i bet its pain
so how bad any one done one ?

Erm I will be doing mine soonish, but from what others have said it's not easy. Here's a few guides for you: www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=78999&page=1www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=32068&page=1The steering column seemed fine when I took it off on my old GTi-6 when I took an iffy alarm out. Sometimes Radweld/K Seal can mask it for a while. Fancy meeting up and we can change em and cry over a few teas? LOL. Another thing is there were two Matrixes used. They used the Behr and Valeo. Whilst it is not cast in stone, the non AC cars used the Valeo Matrii and the AC cars used Behr. I've also heard it's worth forking out the extra for a genuine HM (around £60 from Peugeot) as getting the hoses back on is a little easier (something to consider if you have an XUD engined 306 where bulkhead space is somewhat limited.

The design of the Pug 306/ Cit ZX started with the heater matrix. Everything else was built around it.......

Agreed. Looked into doing it on a mate's 306. It's that bad a job that we both decided that it would be better to get shot of the car.......

From the guides I've seen, the dash needs to only partially come out (albeit alot of it be removed).
Another thing. Use some half decent antifreeze (not the cheap Blue curse word you get from everywhere. The Red stuff has better corrosion inhibitors and it doesn't cost all that more.
Moreover, change the coolant in the Pug every 2 years. That in addition with the cambelt and oil changes will ensure that you have a sweet runner.

The design of the Pug 306/ Cit ZX started with the heater matrix. Everything else was built around it....... That seems to be a common theme with Renault/Citroen/Peugeot. I had to pull everything apart from the wiring loom and ECU out of my dash in order to change my heater matrix- and then it didn't want to go back together the way I took it apart. So much for Haynes "Reassembly is reverse of removal" lol I don't remember swearing at it that much taking it apart Beats the mother's Fiat though, the entire vehicle was built around the windscreen wiper motor... --Phil
