I have seen some wheels for sale that are 114 x 16 x 7 the off set he says is 30 is there a way i can find out if they will fit.He lives a long way so i cannot try them. They are for my ford spectron.I don't want them to stick out of the wheel arch.Thanks

114 will be the PCD (114.3) which means wrong for ford regardless of offset

5 stud Ford (eg Mustang) is 5 x 114.3 I do believe... see thats the point i was going from... bigger stuff i.e trucks tended to have wierd things like difflocks and different load regs than cars... therefore needing more or wider studs... meaning its probably (if that theory is right) nothing like a conventional ford pcd |

Might not help directly, but this is about the best interactive wheel/tyre/offset comparator that I've found: It won't let you 'stretch' though as it only allows a a pre-defined range of tyres sizes relative to the rim width selected. The visuals are nice and the stats below the visuals show how clearances change etc.  Wheel Comparator |

the wheels are for my Ford spectron which pcd is 4 x 114.The standard wheels are 14inc by 41/2 J. The wheels i am after are 4 x 114 so will fit its the off set is 30 thats what he said and the are 7inc.So i don't want them to stick out from the wheel arch..Will the 30 push the wheels in the arch or out.They are not for my fire truck.

If you know the offset of the original wheels, then just pump these numbers into the link I just posted, and it'll tell how much more or less they'll stick out

Wheels are usually stamped with their offset using the German prefix "ET", meaning "Einpresstiefe" or, literally, "insertion depth". An example would be "ET45" for a 45mm offset

Some do and some don't.
My Milinilites don't and I've looked all over them!
But as you only need a straight edge and a tape measure to work it out, being stamped or not isn't usually a big issue.
EDIT:
From Wikipedia :
Calculating the offset of a wheel
First, measure the overall width of the wheel (remember, just because a wheel is 18x7.5, does not mean that the OVERALL width is 7.5”. It means that the measurement between the outboard flange and the inboard flange is 7.5”). Next, divide that width of the wheel by two; this will give you the centerline of the wheel.
Overall width/2 = Centerline
After determining the centerline, measure from the hub-mounting surface of the hub to the edge of the inboard flange (if the wheel were laying flat on the ground – face up – your measurement would be from the ground to the hub-mounting surface). This is your back spacing.
Back spacing - Centerline = Offset
