This weekend I went round most of the coast on the isle of wight. here's a few pics from my travels: not especially retro, but plent of rust. There's a massive crane (grey, background) holding a concrete base to make part of the new jetty. There's 2 spidery platforms with diggers, prepping the seafloor. Was really cool to watch - impressive teamwork and massive equipment flying about. Now this is a retro-ride. This is the floating bridge/chain ferry linking Cowes and East cowes. Made in 1971, still running strong Lovely saab, in tip top condition. We don't see enough saabs on r-r in my opinion Random audi. Needed a good clean edit photos not working, hold on - bloody snapfish

seaside retro-rides? although to be truely retro it should be an old donkey - unfortunatly unlike cars, when donkeys get old they die.

hairnet, i'd like to blame factors outside my control - ie my online hosting anyway... Then we went to Ryde, the inshore lifeboat was out, so we got to see the launcher: Hydraulic drives on all 4 wheels, and the back section lifts up at least 4feet - so the bottom of the boat clears the ground when its on there. very impressive enigneering Saw this in the car park, thought "ooh that looks a bit like the one Topbloke's been trying to sell only an estate and not as good condition" I'm not a big fan of french cars normally, but i could cope with a bio-diesel french barge Then we went south wight, to Blackgang, for the view, cliff walk and an icecream: tbh its very rough - not sure if it ever moves off the car park. Never really had any interest in old bedfords, but you just don't seem to see them anymore... Finally, what seaside picture thread would be complete without some surfer dudes and a sunset Compton bay/Hanover point: Slim's van, Clive's bug. Slim had been out on Sunday as well, which is ridiculous as it was Baltic out there. I've got a week off, so hope to get some more seaside scenes this week, if i can control my camera wobble

Got my fasty back - yay! Still not right - boo! Took some more seaside r-r pics whilst out in it today, so here they are: Wasn't someone after a pic of one of these for the estete cars thread the other day? This guy's also got an acclaim and a couple of convertibles - they seem to rotate from some secret garages somewhere Proper patina'd passat. I want it. The rear passenger door on the other side is black. Dropped/wide wheels/done Then surf dudes. It was the hard-core nutters out today: This has got to be the ultimate surf van.. LWB and trained labrador chauffeur ... Finally, this guy stood out a mile - proper thinking outside the box. None of this vw-surf mobile standard look, no, get some gallic style: well I liked it anyway. Big in surf-mobile look at the moment is ratty as you like, covered in surf-stickers and a pair of cushioned Thule roofbars...
