Thought I'd show you my Plymouth since I've started to tackle the restoration of it now. Bought this in 2003 after I saw it sitting at a car show in Northampton looking very sorry for itself after a heavy front-ender and there was a for sale sign on it. I limped it home with bad shocks, disclocated front spring, dodgy electrics, broken distributor, and steam pouring out of the exhausts because of bad head gaskets. Fixed it a bit including fitting a grille (my luggage back from USA) and new hydraulic ram for the convertible top (most important!) then drove it until 2007 by which time it became very fally-aparty . So I have started a full restoration. Car has a smallblock V8 and metallic blue interior, bench seats and column change. The back window is glass not polythene which is nice.   Convertibles double as pickup trucks of course. I have built a rotisserie and taken everything off the tub including the front subframe/chassis. Car will be getting new metal in the body, a colour change, a new front subframe, hood, and new grille etc, as well has having the chrome rechomed. I have a new convertible top for it in off-white. Target is to have this car restored by next summer. I'll post some more pics soon. |

Here is the main body mounted on my rotisserie, ready for cleaning.  When I jetwashed the body panels, most of the paint came off!  Have transported car to bodyshop who are doing the metalwork. Heres a little vid I knocked up |

how long is a piece of string. Hopefully I made mine strong enough. The hubs are off a 3 litre Nissan. I guess the body tub weighs about a ton.

good to see this getting done "properly" now. I remember looking at it for sale same time you bought it and deciding not to. It was still white the first time I looked at it. Then in the black.

I can remember seeing this in your barn a few years ago wondering if it was something you'd eventually get round to. Well it's good to see you are working on it now and also doing a proper job of a it too.

I remember seeing this at the monkey tree campsite in Newquay. That must've have been 2003/04 - we were there for the cornwall monkey bike show, my mate had his '67 Dodge Polara.

I assumed that was an old white paint job. Is that primer then? The white one was in Bournemouth or Brighton or some such place, long time ago. 318 auto and iffy brakes and some minor panel damage. £1495 with an MOT.
About 6 months later I saw the black car at an NSRA meet, dinged front and up for sale and assumed someone had bought it, painted it black and was trying to move it on for a profit
so there were two...
