After faffing about with the rubber grommits which are meant to sit on the back of the bulb (these were left off, so I put them back on again), I've found my dipped headlight doesn't work! The full beam does, and I've checked the bulb in the other headlight and it does work! Does anyone know what the problem will be, no doubt a wiring problem?

just the dipped filament could have burnt out. I once spent litterally DAYS chasing for a wiring fault which was actually the unlikely event of both the dipped beams having "popped" at the same time.
other than that - check that that the connector fits together snuggly. Bad contacts are a common cause of lights not working.
Failing that a bad earth is my next most common fault.

Here's the wiring loom schematic for the headlight! I've wired like for like to the other headlight and it works, just checking if any wiring experts can see what might be wrong, I know it's hard without looking.

The bulb works fine in the other headlight though! I think it could be an earth - have to find the earthing point now. The front indicator did go off as well, but then come back on when I wiggled the wiring. I've had earthing nightmares before.

Most older cars run both bulb filaments through the same earth, i'd suspect the dip beams live first if the main beam is working and the bulbs ok, get an electrical screwdriver poked into the plastic connector, earth the other end and see if it lights up when you switch the lights on.

I usually try earthing the earth wire ... I can't suss it out though, I've done this type of thing loads, but this is wierd! I connected the Red/White wire to the other headlamp's Red/White and it worked fine, though a bit dim (probably due to bulb). Surely I have your 'avatar' Popuptoaster?!
