Me and SWMBO are in the process of splitting up, and once she has arranged a mortgage to buy me out (she lives 5 minutes from work and spent the last 9 years getting the decor how she likes it), I will be on the hunt for a place of my own.
Hopefully this will give me room for a second car, but more importanly let me decorate how I want.
Planning a bar if I can find somewhere with room.
Would love to install a beer engine/handpump and run beer from polypins, but has anyone done anything like this, with handpumps and optics etc.
It could be in the house, or it could be a country pub styled shed with a comfy armchair and a TV.
Show me your bars. I want inspiration.

The manual real ale pumps are a simple pump with a tube to the keg - nothing to complicated.
There are so many pubs being sold off at the moment - mostly complete with all fixtures and fittings and with a condition that they are no longer used as pubs - must mean that loads of pub equipment is being skipped.
I know this doesn't help much but might be a way to a free bar!
;D

Good idea, never thought of skip diving for bar kit, I imagined it would be trade auctioned when the places was closed.

Join the forum at Jimsbeerkit.co.uk and have a look around - plenty of home bars for inspiration, and sometimes some beer engine for sale, too.

Depends on whether you're going for a traditional pub or a more modern themed bar.. but I have one of these up for grabs It chills Jagermeister (or any spirit for that matter) to about minus 15 degrees centigrade. They're not available to the public, I bought mine from a pub because they didn't have any room for it. And neither do I... EDIT: I believe once you get to that stage of a relationship, 'she who must be obeyed' is probably incorrect Without knowing (or really wishing to know) the ins and outs of why you are splitting up, I wish you the best of luck in becoming an unattached man again

I've just gotten used to her being SWMBO for the best part of 15 years. The split is very friendly at the moment, neither of us is seeing anyone else, she has just gotten sick of my miserable mug and actually looks forward to the time alone if I go out.

I half-gatecrashed a party once where they had one of these and they started playing drinking games. Suffice to say that it did not end well and I was eventually kicked out of the house by the host!

Hmm, that Jim's Beer Kit site is dangerous. It is giving me too many ideas to be safe.
Think I'm going to start with Turbo Cider, then get myself a full Cornelius setup once the bar is built. This could get expensive when you start to including gas and regulator (Welding CO2 and Welding regs can do).
