ok, so we have a reputation for having some odd ideas on here, and me and a few mates have our fair share. One lad inparticular has previously built a motorised armchair, and a motorised sofa, both using pit bike engines.
However, this new project is a little more ambitous and i've been co-ersed into doin the engineering/fabrication.
Basically, take one large motorbility scooter, add a pir of garden tractor wheels, and a pinch of Kawasaki GPZ750 and the result should be fairly lively !
Photo's to follow of the initial mock-up !

Sounds... interesting?
I've seen loads of these at shows - old boys on normal-looking mobility scooters, but which have lawnmower engines on the back... ;D

My mum got ripped off by a mobilty scooter salesman. The thing cost lots more than ones Ive seen in the papers. She only used it a few times too. I'll have to charge it up and start using it. Its sitting beside my brothers BMW. wonder if a flat twin would suit it. Think it would fit in the foot well. Have to stand on the cylinders then Have you seen this Irn Bru advert? Or was it just on in Scotland? Also the Goldie looking chain music video.

Now that's an awesome project. *PLEASE* SVA it! Based on my experience from the RobotWars days I've always thought there's lots of sleeper potential in these things. If it were me I'd replace the rear axle and wheels as you have, though maybe I'd use slightly smaller and less baloonish ones, and I'd use a Lynch motor or equivalent with electronic control and power from a set of li-ion cells or even ultracapacitors if all I was using it for was quick sprints and burn-outs. Result: something that can pass as a mobility scooter in the shopping centre and leave donuts on the tarmac outside.

OK, so, update time. After a somewhat quiet spell, we had a good session in the workshop last night and did this; Front engine mount made and welded in with top bars to triangulate and add strength Rear frame extended and mounting points for axle slotted to allow for chain adjustment Rear top engine mount fitted; More soon hopefully. Just need to rethink rear wheels and aquire brake disc and caliper

Definitely take it up the strip, dressed in old giffer clothes, hat and glasses. Those front wheels are quite cool, they could actually look alright on a car!

I second the idea of bopping around in old man clothes, perhaps more armour is required for wheeling up the track mind lol

i was in a local supermarket the other day and they had some courtesy shopping versions lined up and i ended up having a good chuckle to myself imagining this build drifting the isles and pulling a few doughnuts round the fruit and veg or should that be the bakery section ttfn glenn
