Personally I'd have the Bedford Rascal behind it and stick a bike engine in there, but the little fugitive thing's cool too!

vrsnorm-er, not quite the the type of thing I'm after, its awful.what is it? rmad-my very thought, slammed, low pro road tyres, as opposed to off road ones.and lose all the fibreglass so its just a rollcage with wheels and an engine. ;D but after browsing here I'm now thinking baja rail style, with a v8.

Cool Edit; are they road legal-able?
|
|
it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Cool Edit; are they road legal-able? ive seen a few at dub shows so i would have thought so.probably subject to an sva test if you build one from kit. but il see about getting one thats already sva'd. il have changed my mind again by this time next week

tony if you buld one itll needa donor that means bug or suitable which means using reg off the bug - no sva If you use a donor vehicle you still have to SVA and you are supposed to prove that the majority of parts came from the donor to keep the original reg. Otherwise it would get an age related or Q plate. If you still keep it as a VW beetle on the log book you don't have to SVA but if you ever get pulled you are f~cked. SVA`s are not good and if the new DVLA planned regs come into force then any engine swap/bodywork mod or suspension or roll cage fit will require an SVA test. Most modern cars would not pass an SVA never mind a 20 year old vehicle

I thought the DVLA classed the bug front and rear ends as chassis components and as such rails avoid SVA and are technically modified bugs?

That bottom one's pretty cool, there was a sandrail sort of thing lying abandoned in a lockup near the one I kept my racing Imp in ages ago, had all the panels missing and looked a bit worse for wear but the Beetle engine and box were still there, well until the local council spotted it and cleared the garage out, probably all scrapped.
