i put a badgeless grille on my golf today and i got thinking. would it be possible to do a badgeless and lightless grille with the lights behind the grille dodge charger style. heres a quick photoshop i did and i reckon it would look quite good i apologise for the curse word photo quality and slightly dodgy (no pun intended) photoshopping

Such items do exist. DarrenW will know who makes them. Sourkraut-bay would be a good place to track one down.
Don't expect most people to understand the look though.....

its not something id do personally but with the badge now gone i noticed a slight similarity between a badgeless grille and a charger grille and thought id see what it looked like. may try it one day but I'm always on about novas with ferrari style vents looking turd so it would be a bit hypocritical of me to add a charger grille to a golf

Thats an Orciari Grill, they're bloody rare, one was up on sausagebay a while back for 1500 euros, that being the only one ive ever seen forsale. The bits that cover the lights are on some kind of motor and pulley system and slide back into the centre part to reveal the lights

the thought has crossed my mind before today, I'm fairly sure that all this one uses is leccy window motors and carefully run copper pipes/runners

in my search for one i stumbled across a guy who wants to do pretty much the same thing but with pop up lights out of the bonnet and have no lights at all in the grille. he says hes going to do it by cutting up 2 badgeless grilles.
sounds....interesting

Yep - these grilles were around in the 80's, got some pics of them in my 80's-tastic 'VW Power and Style' book.

Theres a mk1 polo in the berg cup with that style grill. I thought of the idea last year, but couldnt see how it could be made to work. Saw it on a golf that was at worthersee last year as well.

The light covers on the Ocari grills slide sideways when the lights are put on,.. very cool.

Just pop along to your local Venetian blind supplier, they should be able to help create ‘the Oriciari look’.
