hey thrasher! what you need to get your head round is that you're working with layers of artwork - a bit like using sheets of acetate. Each piece of the image is on a different layer so you can move and effect them independently. If 2 things are on the same layer they will be effected ion the same way ie: if you apply a blur (in filters) it will apply it to anything on the selected layer. The other layers will not be effected. masking is your next step - say you have a pic of your car on layer 1 - you can select (with the marquee tool) the top section (anything above the wheels) and copy it (control + C) and then paste (Control + V) and you will have the top half of your car on a seperate layer and you can move it down, lowering the car! ;D Sorry if I'm being too simplistic (don't want to patronise ya! ) as Olivia Newton John famously said "feeeellll your way" Feel free to e-mail me if you need any pointers - happy to help if I can.

How do you learn best ? by text or by being shown ?
If its text, Amazon have some great books such as
Teach yourself photoshop visually.
There is a great magazine called Digital Photo which comes with a CD every month that has about 6 Video lessons. I took my first steps with these vids and can't recommend them enough.
