For HoTWire And also: Now, I found those pics whist trawling through the most AMAZING thread: www.autotitre.com/forum/Rarete_only_le_retour-38539p131.htmand someone mentions a link to this place: www.nicholasmee.co.uk/index.htmlso I'm guessing that last one was for sale there or something. (that's the page with some of the Aston pics on) YES, that's 139 pages! Should kill a few hours if you're bored this afternoon LOADS of really random rare stuff, shame my French is so terrible!

Nope,.. I'm after pictures of the one that almost Lapped Gerry Marshall at Brands AMOC meeting in the mid-90s .
It was yellow, very modified, a total beast of a car. Apparently it was usually a hillclimb car, but he thought he'd try it on the circuit! .. Said he probably wouldn't do it too often as it was very hard work keeping it under control for so long.
I thought it was Duncan Hamilton's car .. but I'm not sure.
I'm also looking for a VW Golf campaigned by Cooke & Verschueren. This is a current car,.. it is posting some rather suprising results in the AMOC Intermarque Challenge.

I remember that Aston, had a good look round it at Mallory when we were racing on the same bill.. I have got a funny feeling it ended up black either later on that year or the following season, was quick though.. ;D

Really? I'm SURE I posted those pics before ;D Possibly,.. my memory isn't what it used to be ,.. getting old you see... I'd love to find out who races it, because I recall that they built another Aston after that one that was something like 800bhp and space framed...

Seeing the Link Systems AM has sent me delving deep in my stash of photos and car junk. About 10 years ago I saw the DBS racer at a tiny car museum at Littlecote House in Berkshire, it was abandoned out the back under a tarp, at the time I only knew it was a DBS race car so my girlfriend(now my wife-so we're still together Jack ) wrote to Mr Boxstrom for more details, 6 months later after the collection had been disbanded we got this reply and some more photos Aston Martin Owners Club, Section East USA and Canada Jack C Boxstrom, Director / Competition
January 16th 1995
Dear Kim
Here is some info on my racing Aston Martin – hope you and Steven are still together – you wrote in May!
Littlecote House is now closed and out of business and the car is up in Derby getting a complete mechanical restoration in preparation for two big historic races at Silverstone this year.
Thank you for your interest!
Best regards,
Jack Boxstrom North American AMOC member, Aston racing enthusiast and new owner Jack Boxstrom sends the following item:
Le Mans Aston V8 Featured at Littlecote Museum
“RHAM-001”, the famour British Le Mans entry of 1977 and 1979 has been installed as a seasonal display at the Littlecote Museum in Berkshire.
Lacking major sponsorship and persevering against all odds, an all-British privateer team achieved a glorious result with this Aston V8 in the 1977 Le Mans Classic. Drivers Robin Hamilton, David Preece and Mike Salmon were classified 17th overall and 1st in the over 5 litre GT Prototype Class. This was the first Aston finish at Le Mans in 15 years.
Although various Aston V8 powered cars contested the event in the 1980s, RHAM-001’s achievement is also the last le Mans finish by a production based Aston Martin to date.
The team returned to the Sarthe circuit in 1979 but a new 800 BHP twin turbo engine gave trouble and RHAM-001 was withdrawn in the 4th hour.
The ex-Hamilton V8 is in remarkably original condition and is displayed in its “Union Jack” 1979 Le Mans livery.
Littlecote House/The Land of Littlecote is located near Hungerford, Berkshire and is well sign-posted off the M4. Visitors may ring 0488 684 00 for general museum and activities information.
From the car collection brochure
Aston Martin Le Mans V8
This famous British Le Mans entry of 1977 began life as an ordinary DBS-V8 road car.
After several seasons of club racing, Midland’s Aston Agent Robin Hamilton had a dream fulfilled - his entry was accepted for the 1977 Le Mans 24 Hour Classic.
By now the former road car had been converted to full Group 4 FIA Racing Specification and rechristened ‘RHAM 001’.
Lacking major sponsorship and working against all odds, this all British privateer team achieved a glorious result in the 1977 Le Mans Classic.
When the chequered flag fell to signal the end of the gruelling 24 Hours, British drivers Hamilton, David Preece and Mike Salmon were classified 17th overall and 1st in the over 5 litre GT class.
In 1979 the team returned to Le Mans but the 800 BHP twin turbo engine failed after three and a half hours.
The Le Mans Aston Martin is seen here in its 1979 livery.
I knew hanging onto all that stuff would pay off one day
