...cos I did To be fair there was always a pretty good chance this would happen; the car hadn't been driven for 6 months and was in bits right up til Thurs eve. I made a desperate bid to get it running & juiced in time and pretty much succeeded (only had to make 1 road-side repair on the way after the g'box cooler pipes split). It was 'finished' Fri am, taxed lunchtime, then I was on my way to meet the SE Convoy at Fleet services Sadly, having got nearly all the way home on Sun we stopped for a quick beer where I failed to notice a speed bump in the pub car park whilst running at full lift and gave it a good smack, breaking a drive shaft. Whoopsie At least it happened on the way home! Anyone else suffer a similar fate? HC.

Sorry to hear about the car mate. I got about 10 miles before we noticed a clucking noise from the front side. Stopped in a pub car park and the passenger side brake caliper and pad carrier has become very lose. I guess in my rush to fit the new discs - I didn't tighten them that well. Ended up waiting for 2 hours for an AA van who was with us for about 2 minutes. Turned a 4.5 hour journey into a 6.5 one. Got home about 1am.

Gutted for you dude!!
I very nearly had the same problem - car started leaking loads of stuff (don't even know what it is yet) 10 miles from home. Nursed it back and it's tucked up in bed.

Sad to see that on a trailer. Looked great! Was really nice to meet you anyway!
I was relatively lucky and got home almost incident free. I say almost - cause the springs went on my passengers seat, which despite being quite annoying is a small price to pay for the 700 miles driven over the weekend!

Sorry you had to use the breakdown services Hardcore and 1straven. We got back OK - a few hiccups. Hitch lost some gears, the Capper wasn't running right and the clutch was slipping on Nathan's MGB but we all made it. Mark - so the driveshafts held up! Knew they would. ;D Hope you solved the mystery leak

Ahh dude, that sux, brakes are pretty important tho! At least we both ended up in pub car parks, there are definately worse places to brake down! ;D Mark - hope urs is ok dude, she's a sweet looking' ride, one of my faves at the show for sure. Tri - cheers dude, at least it wasn't your seat, lol cheers for holding the torch for Mark ^ too, much appreciated - really looking forward to the pics really cool to meet both of ya's. HC.

Thanks Gents, glad you got home relatively incident free Hopefully it'll just be a case of replacing the shaft which *shouldn't* be too horrible a job. Will be shortening the springs a bit more while I'm there too so it sits lower on full drop & doesn't brake its shafts on full lift HC.

Mark - I'd be more than happy to lend a hand with pretty much anything buddy, tho you're probably better off talking to someone who actually knows what they're doing this is the first car I've juiced & we pretty much worked it out as we went along. It seemed to have gone reasonably well but got a few excellent tips from the likes of Exodore so will be changing a few things to get smoother moves Exodore - thanks for your kind words & advice at the show, very much appreciated, & for showing us your ride, it's frikkin bad-ass ;D I fitted the disconnect immediately after speaking with you about it on Sat - sounded rather important! Thanks for the tip, its good to have some peace of mind! I'd quite like to ask you some more questions if that's ok? HC.

I didnt even make it 1st time. Got all the way to strensham services (seemed like the bermuda triangle for broken down cars). Car had not skipped a beat. Just pulling into the services and dipped the clutch to change down. Nothing there under foot. Managed to clunk it into second but it stalled in slow moving traffic. Managed to coast it in 2nd into the car park with my mates help and a little push. I thought it felt like air in the clutch hydraulics. undid the valve on the slave cylinder a bit and got daz to push the pedal down. ppsshhtt. ah this is it. did it again to be sure....SNAP. End of the culinder snapped clean off. shows over. waited 2 hrs for RAC man to tell me it was buggered (I had gathered that and told them over phone I'd need a truck). Then another 2 hrs waiting for truck to come. We didnt get home til 9.00 and shot back down in my nephews modern tin. Setting tent up at 1.30am less than ideal but the next day was well worth it. Maybe next year for the VP!

I now superstitiously try not to stop there. Shame the VP didn't make it, but 10/10 for determination to get to the show!

sorry to hear about all the breakdowns we nearly got the tina low loaded because of the traffic as it gets hot in the slightest of traffic due to the curse word cylinder heads it runs but after stopping for an hour to let the traffic move on after the temp hitting 230deg f it cooled down and we were off again

I made it home but I had a close call at one point. I was crusing along at about 50 when I heared an almighty 'clunk' underneath the car. Id only just had an exhaust fitted about 5 mins before I left home on saturday so I thought it might be something to do with that or worse. After the clunk I slowed down before pulling into a layby. I snaked along the layby and felt nothing wrong, pulled over and looked underneath it. Still nothing wrong. So I thought ''ok, do I call the AA or wait for something to fall off?'' Needless to say I carried on, slowley at first, and theres still nothing wrong so I guess I may have just flicked something up off the road, still a worrying noise to hear so far from home!

Gopt ten miles from home and the ovefrflow pipe on the rad gave up the ghost and started blowing fluids all over the place. the Elf was just not made to run at 70 for more than 2 minutes. Cooled it down, topped it up with fluids and crawled home. Looking to buy a new radiator now. At least it happened on the way back.
great show guys.
