Information required about these buckets Someone has offered one for pennies, I know they are fast, and most chaved to death. Can someone fill the blanks for me?, are they any good, are they rare, is it just an engine donor for a metro ;D Ta

Not rare. Fun though. I had a '92 1.6 about eight years ago. Went fine but suffered from the usual front wheel drive malaise of no grip and torque steer. Girlfriend loved the combination sunroofs and t-bar.
Considering it's an old mans saloon underneath that nice looking body, Rover did a good job.
Turbos are seriously mad but still spinny front wheels. Now if they'd only done a RWD......

if it's peanuts, get it and sell it at a crazy profit next July when the sun is out for a weekend. They're not overly fast (you sure you're not thinking of the 220 turbo? that is quick...) but they can keep up with newer stuff, they handle 'ok', they look 'ok', keep it standard and it'll look better than most of them out there

At the end of the day, it's a front wheel drive Rover...

If it's the 220 turbo one, then there is only one feasable solution. Buy it, remove the grubby bits and refit them in an Austin Maxi.

I haven’t got a problem with these cars, not the most inspiring drive in the world, but not bad, quite attractive, good tech (especially if it’s the 1.8VVC), nice driving position etc, interesting history etc. I’d have one OK.

If it's the 'T' Top it will be suffering from water leaks!
But if it's only pennies, buy it anyway and enjoy it and s0d the dampness. ;D

220 Turbos, never ever fit composite head gaskets as they're total sheeeite! I reckon go for it, they're nice bits of kit, go well, handle well, and for pennies you can't go wrong they had their own race series, those cars were pretty expensive, but they got hammered like stock car racers, entaining stuff to say the least though ;D I like the 218 VVCs from the point of view of the nice light engine used compared to the heavy cast iron blocked T series, must have sweetened the handling no end!

That's the one indeedy! that looks to dwefinitely be a VVC as they're VVC alloys, it's got a spoiler and it's a fairly late one. Very pretty cars, but some have very sadly been chavved to the point of hair curdling horror! it would make your blood curl! ;D
All I can remember is the Turbos were stupifyingly quick! I'd still have one!

VR, thats the puppy. It's not a nice one though, engine is a little noisy, needs a bumper and 2 wings :S, and the alternator doesn't appear to work , nice.
