dipped a skip outside a dentists gaff this morning and got this odd looking thing thought it might come in handy for something - once i find out whats its for - a quick web search has yeilded nothing really, the B.E.N. name pops up on american Stationary Engine forums and pre-war product catalogues can anyone enlighten me?

compressor that runs the dentist's drills and stuff. thing on top's a motor hooked straigth to a single cylinder compressor by way of a pretty sweet little bellhousing. the other bit off the side with the heatsink is perhaps an oil trap. surgical air has to be 100% oil free.

Broom and Wade, which went on to be part of CompAir, were based in High Wycombe, my dad used to work there. A quick google of B.E.N. air compressor seems to show that they were made by them...
Well actually it just brings up one guy cross-posting on some air compressor forums that he needs spares for one, but it's a start. ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Well High Wycombe actually sits in a valley, which seems to have a strange psychological effect on many of its residents making them prone to misery and voting Tory.

This is my piece of dentistry beauty Again rescued from a skip, runs like clockwork, and when the top cover is on its almost silent. Made by a company called Ritter, which I think, are W German, and finished in mile deep gloss black with gold pinstriping.
