I have read this thread a fair few times now so I know the parts you have done, but it all looks factory just the same. You show what can be achieved with the enough skill, patience and attention to detail. It is a pleasure to look at; I would love my Jag to be as good as this.
I will enjoy watching as it is reassembled.

It's a relief to see it at this point now, there was a moment where I was worried all the hard work could have been undone by the faffery of others. Beautifully finished work, looks factory fresh (if you ignore the pinholes, of course).

I have a gassless mig as my first welder, is it possible to do the ork your doing with this or do I need to upgrade asap to gas? Do I weld over the top of my tack welds or just imbetween them when welding the panel in for good? If it is a inner panel that is not on show, as an inexperienced welder should I overlap the metal and puddle weld joggled holes rather than try and butt weld? You can do it with gasless, but I would advise changing to gas as soon as possible, you will get much better results and its easier too, if possible use an argon/CO2 mix, rather than just plain CO2, the argon mix gives a much smoother weld I would weld between the tacks, infact when trying to minimise distortion the welds are sometimes more like a collection of tacks all sat next to each other rather than big long welds Butt welding is by far the hardest way to do it, as long as you make efforts to seal the joints to prevent water getting through, then overlapping joints are fine in my book. Hope this helps Tony

Fancy doing the rear arches, quarters and sills on my dad's one? Unfortunately way too many jobs and not enough time at the moment, ask me again in 12 months time. Tony

Thanks dbdb and volksangyl
I have to admit to be pleased when I saw the car again, to see that Prostrip had done a good job, Gordon had mentioned that it was heart breaking when he picked it up from SPL after it had been left out on the rain for several months.
Both Gordon and I are very happy with the way the repairs have turned out, and can't wait to see it with a coat of paint on

Thanks Tony! Yes helps alot, in fact I have been doing alot of butt welds the way you describe spacing strong tack welds and building a collection until completely welded in like on the back of the MGB here , I then grind down with flap wheel and lead over the top to ensure any pin holes cover. If I over lap I'm using Zinc primer to cover after and then seam sealer and another coat of zinc before top coats etc. I'm certainly going to practive soem of those shrinking tech you showed, awesome! Here was my attempt at a arch before reading this post you can see Ive had the lead out again lol! Keep the updates coming mate!

Tony, that is flat-out amazing work. Like, truly inspiring. If I could get work done like that on my Vauxhall I would be somewhere to the left of happy.
I can't wait to see the finished product.

WOW, so pleased to see this back on track, it seems SPL hasn’t improved one iota since I left there, DB6 shell in tow, muttering obscenities and vowing revenge... Mind you I never thought they would, I wouldn’t name and shame on a forum like this if there was any doubt in my my mind that the problems could have been a one off, pure incompetence and unprofessionalism embodied.
Really happy this one's getting back on track and going to be better than new when done by the look of it..

An Update, Hoorah I could not find the time to weld up the holes left form the stripping process, so Gordon got a local bodyshop to that and then paint the underside and inside, not a great job, but good enough, will need to go over the engine bay and boot area as the coverage is poor in places, but at least it allowed us to get its suspension back on It also has picked up a bit of damage underneath along the way, some of which is obviously before it was painted !!, but will be able to sort that later A mix up with the track rod ends from a later model, means we could not get it onto the front wheels, so not sure at this stage if it will make it to Billing at the weekend, Gordon and I will be there, if not the Victor

An Update, Hoorah It also has picked up a bit of damage underneath along the way, some of which is obviously before it was painted !!, Is that SPL damage? I think it is what they do best. Victor is looking good Tony.
