Okay Tony I'll attack them both myself, but won't come close to what you do.
What I would like to know is how you put the swage lines in the floorpan for example. My Viva's have a shallow strengthening dip across the floor with the odd one going at right angles as well.

Hi Tony Thanks for that. I'll be making a folder very shortly. Here is my first attempt, don't laugh! It is a funny shape swage line though.

That is a perfectly acceptable first attempt, just needs a bit more definition, and a bit more practice

Gordon and I took a trip to Shrewsbury today, he had been offered an Early FB Victor for scrap money, its been in storage for the last 20 years, but it has the same colour interior and trim as his yellow car, and could also be a valuable source of bits and pieces along the way So hitched up the trailer and set off The storage turned out to be an old ammunition bunker on an MOD site, the guy has been storing cars there for 30 years, but now the MOD have decided to decommission them, (pull them done in laymans terms), so they have to be cleared, and its been getting damp in there for the last 10 years Heres a shot from inside, apparently he has had up to 50 cars in , in the past, each of those bays could hold 3 cars deep by 2 cars wide, it was huge inside So freed the brakes off and pushed her outside, unfortunately the registration number was transferred 20 years ago Actaully quite solid underneath, but the interior looks like it might need some attention So got her loaded and headed for home

Well Gordon picked the Victor up from SPL on Wednesday, it was becoming increasingly clear that they had no set date in mind for the new process. The car has been outside in the rain, since it was dropped off, months ago, and looks to be suffering for it and then it was taken to Pro Strip, they seem very keen to do the work and are 1/2 the price of SPL, so fingers crossed it works out this time Meanwhile the threat of Redundancy has been lifted for me, the company I work for has been bought out by a bigger group, and it looks like there may be more opportunities in the future, so that is good, and I have to say a huge relief for me personally It might mean I don't have as much time to work on Cars, but we will just have to wait and see, I guess you cant have it both ways

Glad you shifted the car (to a hopefully much better place) and glad your job prospects are looking rosy even if it means a bit less time for cars

Pity to see the FB looking so sad. Hope it makes a full recovery at the new place. Good job news too I shall never use SPL and will warn others off on the basis of your experience too.

Good to see you getting on with the good stuff.
Great news on the work front, of course I am on the lookout right now, but trust the new year will bring something.
As mentioned above, thank goodness for hoarders.

If the Victor was mine I expect I'd be furious with SPL for returning it in worse condition than it was left with them and with them leaving the shell out in the elements with not even an open-sided car port affair to keep the worst of the rain off. The more I hear about SPL the more they seem like a cowboy outfit. I'm looking forward to hearing how things go with the new company and seeing things progress.
Finally, congratulations on the job front! Great to hear some good news in the current climate.

Gordon certainly was not happy when he told me that it had been left outside all this time
I really don't know what it is with SPL, they seem to have a couldn't care less attitude, perhaps they have got too used to being the only ones offering the service.
The Pro strip guys say they'll have the car back by Christmas, lets hope they keep to there word

How are you getting on with the Victor? I noticed in Practical Classics, that SPL are advertising the old e-coat process again! Are they back onto this, or is it yet another bluff? Keep up the good work! Leigh.

Keep up the good work! Leigh. 5 days ago Gordon removed the Victor from SPL, because they cannot provide any coating service for a full car, neither the E coating or the new Nickel Plating. If they are advertising that they can I would read the small print, or ring trading standards

In the 'Tech Talk Q & A' in this month's PPC magazine a reader asks about getting a shell stripped - and they suggest, yes you guessed it - SPL . . .
