Went to this on Sunday and was just wondering if anybody else went. I didnt see much of the event though, as i was scavenging in the mile and a half of autojumble Apart from the Autojumble, there were loads of steam machines, classic cars, stalls, 2 arenas of events, motorbikes, pedal bikes, etc. Will be putting the pictures up when they finally upload onto photobucket

I was there very early sunday morning, but no photos though. I scavanged the auto jumble before most of you got out of bed, had a bit of a chat and a few cups of tea with a Fowler owner and then left about 10am ;D I had free pass for the weekend too ;D

Poor do this year - it's gone downhill the last two years. My mate has alot of land next to the site, and at one time, the organisers would rent land off him for show areas and car parking, but not for the last two years. Also, admission to Mr. & Mrs. Public went up from £6 to £10, but less to see! Price does go down int afternoon and eves though.
This year there was a standoff between the organisers, showmen and police for an hour - the showmen and stallholders blocked the exits after a meeting with the organisers (no idea what it was al about yet). Plod was called to make sure the public were safe, the stand off was peaceful and managed to sort it out within an hour, but next year alot of showmen and stallholders are not attending if things stay as they are.

The organisers did a runner without paying any of the engine owners or showmen hence the stand off! 2 engines travelled down from Aberdeen, a 711 mile round trip with 2 engines & didn't receive a penny of what was agreed on beforehand leaving them seriously out of pocket!
If Simon is still involved with the rally next year then there won't be one simple as that!

A drive to York love york.Had a great week Stopping for a week must be a totally different experience, as i live relatively close, and always have, i tend to go for the day or half day - but i can certainly see the appeal of a longer visit, with the local attractions and cheap, safe camping.
