Looks like they're trying to get an event organised at the old Crystal Palace circuit in London....
....its planned for the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May 2010, date is in my diary ;D
Motorsport is set to return to the nation's capital, as London's Crystal Palace Park plans to host a sprint event in May 2010.
The event, which will be run by the Sevenoaks and District Motor Club (SDMC), will revive one of the world's first dedicated motoring venues - the first motorsport events were held at Crystal Palace Park in 1899.
But SDMC is still looking for investors. "The plans are all in place and we are ready to go; we now need to raise the funds to pay for repair work to the track surface and the building of safety barriers," said a spokesman for the club.
The two-day event, currently scheduled for 30-31 May 2010, will involve a sprint competition for both historic and modern racing cars, including classes for alternative-fuel and electric vehicles, and an old-style wall of death show (which we reckon sounds particularly brilliant). It will also be the only nationally accredited motorsport event held within London.
The last events were held at the park in the late 1990s (click on the image to see video clips of the 1990s revival event), although the 1.39-mile circuit that was a regular fixture on the international motorsport scene in the 1950s and 1960s was closed in 1972.
