Not really retro, but hey its mine and i like it. Should be just the thing as an all year round bike, no chrome to worry about and mostly plastic panels. Its a 650 single cylinder, so has a nice "thump" to it ;D Introducing my BMW Funduro (F650)    |

I worked in a BMW bike dealer from 1994 to 2001 and really enjoyed these 'funduros' very versatile and under rated. I nearly headbutted a brick wall in shirt&tie and no helmet when i had a little highside in the car park of the dealership on a yellow one we had painted up and used as a service loan bike.

Seen a few of these for sale for sensible money, quite like the look of them too.... I've never seen one "in the flesh", what's the seat height like? Is it a "newbie-friendly" sort of machine?
Looks very smart, I like riding in all weathers, and hate polishing, so I know where you're coming from! ;D

This is an ideal beginner machine, when i was at the beemer place a couple of local training schools would borrow our loan bike if it was available.
Seat height is a bit high being off road based, but they did a lower version called the F650ST

Yes was me for the torque wrench repair.
Just a question though, did you have any problems with carb icing on them? Been told, now I've bought it, that its a common problem on these.

i never had one do it, used to do loads of early morning miles on them too, so i wouldnt worry too much.

my brothers got a few BMW bikes.
Hes got a 650 similar to that. must be a different model though.

Nice bikes. I had a Dakar "Black and White" between my 1150 and 1200 GS's and have to say, it will sit at 100mph all day on private roads. Very nice, capable and under rated bikes. Loads of info etc and an active For sale board on www.ukgser.comGood luck and enjoy it. |
