Well, it's getting close and seeing all the toys the rest of you are building me and 24vster thought we'd better get in on the action.
Last year the weekend before the gathering we threw the random tandem together:
For this years creation we once again turned to the 'pile of stuff that we've accumulated' and this time dug out the 53 plate Sym Jet that we got given a month or so ago.
Its previous owner had had it sat partly stripped in the garden for a year and wanted shot of it. Apparently he couldn't re MOT it as the lights didn't work and we'd identified the problem as being something to do with the charging circuit out of the motor so we'd already got rid of all the excess plastics and decided to build something interesting with it...................
Stripping out all the excess wiring
Make sure it still runs with everything removed
Which leaves this
Looking good with a lot of rear slam, hmmm, there's an idea
Saturday afternoon, after a little ride height doctoring on Dave120a's Maestrovan, let the cutting begin
Saturday evening, starting to get a bit cold and dark so move the whole operation back into the garage
Sunday afternoon, nearly there
Sunday evening, Scootay chopper thing
Took it down to our local industrial estate for a test ride this evening, actually rides quite nicely, bit more tinkering to do, at present it's running mix in the tank but we may revert to separate 2 stroke tank during the week.
Good weekends work.
