what do i need to do? the only thing ive been told i cant do is insert the valve guides? what do i need to buy for it? how much will it be to rebuild? its already been ported and polished, and used to run 44 and 38mm valves, and phosphor guides? I'm willing to give it a go in rebuilding it, and want it good for about 160-170 brake once its all back together. its a pinto head from a 1.6 but was sitting sweet on a 2.0 for a while before he stripped it, and then he give it me ;D ;D ;D apparently the 1.6 heads are better? what do i need for it?

Not quite sure what your asking ? But some of this might help: Has it got unleaded seats in it ? Have you crack tested or pressure tested it ? Checked all the threads ? Not a lot YOU can do with it without a lot of kit TBH Clean it, paint it, fit new cam bearings Check CC volume Have you got the Valves ? springs? retainers ?Cam ? Check tolerances, assembled valve heights, coil binding on Max lift etc Match the manifolds to the ports Debur any sharp casting marks Grind out and Debur the oil Drains Measure and check clearances After that it want to go to a decent head shop for new guides (If needed) valve seats and seat cutting Clean it lap the valves, clean it again, paint it, clean it and put it all together.

other than assembly and maybe re lapping the valves you cant relly do alot My procedure for a basic rebuild goes a bit like this De-grease Acid Dip Pressure wash Grit blast Fit new seats (if needed) Skim Fit new guides Re cut seats (a must if you replace guides) Blend it all in with the die grinder (carefully!! ) Lapp in valves Assemble

Is that all you`ve got then ? A bare head ? Cos if it is then you are going to need 8 valves set of valve springs new retainers New followers Rocker posts and lock nuts Cam shaft Cam bearings Spraybar
In other words you want a full Cam kit and 8 valves
Wont be cheap though.....
I know of a very good head, with a kent Hi torque cam kit if your interested ? Would give you everything you need apart from the 8 big valves, or you could use it as is ?

oh, its going on an injection engine, with injection system, so do i need a different cam?

You could probably pick up a good condition BVH head for half the price of getting all the bits for that one. If its going on a standard injection sierra engine you can only really run a mild or possibly fast road cam with standard size valves. The injection system doesnt take well to engine mods.

Yes I know its a big valve head I have 44mm valves in mine and I only paid £75 for it including a kent FR22 cam bronze guides and a vernier pulley. What I was meaning was if you have a look about you can pick them up ready built pretty cheap. If you know the exact spec you want the engine it makes sense to build that one up though.

yeah, i mean, i wanted to rebujilding it myself (thats half the fun, innit) and this way i know how it all goes together and what its made up from, plus i didnt pay anything for it, and the guy before me had the works done to it, ported, polished, pressure chekced, and so on, so if i can source everything free or cheap then I'm probably gonna save me a few quid

I think I have a scrap BVH but not sure what size the valves are. I will check and see, and if they are any use you can have them.
