Big up Stratstone Chrysler.
I needed a part for the PTC, not available through the usual motor factors so I tried the main dealer. Not only do they call me sir but after spending some time on the phone with me trying to ascertain exactly what it is I wanted (not the Sutton "give him a random part" method) I placed an order for an out of stock item which is being special order'd in from Chrysler on an overnight service so I can have it 09:30 tomorrow.
This is for a £1.24 diesel injector seal.
Chap I was dealing with kept good humour through out the whole time too.
See, they ain't all bad!

nice to hear the good stories as they seem a bit rare these days, they are probably not that busy at the moment though! did any one cathc the BOGOF offer they did a while ago (dodge avenger IIRC) to boost sales, but only on the 2.4 petrol!
only had two main dealer experiences, neither of which could really be positive or negative.

I went to my local MB dealer a while back to collect some radiator hoses for the W123 that id previously ordered. the guy on the parts desk was in his late 20s, and I thought 'here we go'. told him what id ordered and what for, so he scuttled off to get them. on his return I checked them, yep ok, and paid. just before we exchanged goodbye pleasantries he told me that he'd seen a pic in the previous months PPC of a low black W115 and a low green W123 parked next to each other in the show reviews page. at this point I was grinning like a cheshire cat and going through the photos on my phone. he'd seen the review of the '07 gathering at mallory, and had remembered mine and benzboys cars.

Some places can be great - I used to be fairly regular in Matthewmans Peugeot in Rotherham when I had my 106. I'd just about finished (the third) engine swap on it, when I realised the thermostat housing was cracked. I called the dealer at 4:55pm, and he said he'd get me one for 8am the following morning on a rush delivery, with no deposit. The next morning comes, I phone up and he says that while the deliver came, and it was on the picking note, my housing didn't turn up, so he ordered another. I got on my pushbike and rode about 10 miles to a local (USELESS) Peugeot breakers who had nothing similar, and was just riding home, about 500 metres from the dealers when my phone rings. I stopped to answer it, saw a local number I recognised on the screen, then promptly dropped and broke my phone as I went to answer it. I had a hunch, so I rode to the dealers - Turns out the bloke had rang Peugeot who claimed they were 100% sure it had been sent out (they asked the guy who picked the order) so the bloke got half the mechanics searching for it. The part had fallen out of the bottom of the box and gone under a desk in the office. The bloke then realised he didn't have my mobile number but remembered I'd once gone in in a Halfords uniform, so he called Directory Inquiries, got the number for Halfords and asked a colleague for my mobile number! After not being able to get in touch, he was just about to send the YTS lad out in the works van to look up and down my road for a Red 106 to drop it me off (I'd once mentioned roughly where I live in conversation) All this for a £6 plastic thermostat housing! Needless to say the first trip out with the new engine was to Asda, then to Peugeot with a crate of beer

My local VW/Audi dealer is always helpfull for parts, even rare ones or parts that are not available anymore through the official channels. The man behind the desk (ussually the same guy) knows me by now and is starting up the parts-finder-tool when I walk in. ;D He owns a mint Mk1 Golf Gti, so he's a retro-guy himself, that must be helpfull aswell.

Unusual to see a good report about Stratstone.
When they effectively took over the superb Speeds Volvo service went completely down the toilet for parts (and I have heard people in the trade say same thing).
So much so a service and parts only Volvo place and Mansfield was doing very well picking up there trade. It seems mainly staffed by experienced ex-Speeds personnel!
