I've always wanted to put on in a Dolly, hopefully NA and up to about 150-180HP but I can never seem to find one, plus, I'm never keen on the note The engines are tiny, about the size of a beer barrel, which is amazing. I prefer my pistons going up and down still

My Mum has an old Mazda 323 in mint condition. I keep telling my brother that he needs to relieve her of it and snick a rotary in there. He's into 'moderns' though. Geek!

kind of a cool engine i think, but everyone i know who has a mazda with a rotary, is just raped for fuel.
a friend had a rx7 FC N/A 180 bhp N/A engine still used to only do 150miles to £50......yup. rapeage.
they can sound cool though. and are compact in 2 rotor form, but not as light as everyone assumes

I had an RX-7 (series 2) E reg I think (can't quite remember.) Acceleration is great, engine is great apart from high petrol consumption and it is very, very expensive when it goes wrong.
If you go to a scrapyard and see any RX7 in there there is a 90% chance that there is nothing wrong with the bodywork or running gear but that the engine is f**ked.
Most RX owners reckon on getting about 100-150k per engine before it needs complete rebuilding.
Older RX-7's can be picked up pretty cheaply, especially the non-turbo ones. Just make sure you have someone with you who knows about rotary engines before you buy one.
I sold mine to a guy who was building a kit car. (If he ever finished it the car would have flown with the power/weight ratio that he was aiming for!)

not as light as everyone assumes Thats cause they're a solid lump of steel (?). Theres far more non metal parts (ie air) in a piston motor

Yup, a small block Ford V8 is in fact a lighter engine than a 13B.....

Yup, a small block Ford V8 is in fact a lighter engine than a 13B..... wow... are you serious? how big are the small blocks anyway? on another note... i heard its relatively easy to get a lot of power from rotaries by just porting them or something.

Cool engines, I've always wanted one of the '70s Madza B series pickups with the (12A?) rotary, because those are great motors and those are great engines, the only thing is I'm not sure if the quite fragile and thirsty engine would take away from the unbreakable, dependable, practical sort of feel the piston engined B series has. One with the more modern 13B rotary might be a little better mind you!
