Well dunno about inspiration BUT i can tell you i had a 1978 Matt Black and rust version of the camaro, it was fitted with a TH400 and an olds 403 BB and that would happily go sideways through corners, that was a fun and scary car, again, shouldnt have sold that

I have a late 2nd gen upgrading to 350 block and have th400 lump but at the moment my mate has other problems to sort so wont get finished in August but then after its rolling might have to sell anyhow but at the moment it is a rolling shell with fresh rebuilt 350 and cleaned th400 with elderbrock intake tube headers acell twin point dizzy other than that its std. the last time I saw my car there was no rust on the body work and wouldnt believe there is any now. I do like the look of the gen 1 camaro and as far as I know its all swappable as well so you could convert the front to 1st gen from a 2nd gen just found this on tinternet sex wee big time gmachinechassis.com/pm me and wills upply you with a bunch of good camaro parts and upgrade web pages here is one to get you started www.pozziracing.com/12_corvette_brakes_on_fgen.htm

See if you can swap it to the chrome bumper early front then you are laughing. If i remember correctly i've read somewhere that the chrome bumper front should be a "easy" swap, although the price might be a bit intimidating ;D The 74-81 also has a larger rear window, wich ruins the shape a bit, and might not be an as easy swap as the front end ;D I have a late 2nd gen upgrading to 350 block and have th400 lump but at the moment my mate has other problems to sort so wont get finished in August but then after its rolling might have to sell anyhow but at the moment it is a rolling shell with fresh rebuilt 350 and cleaned th400 with elderbrock intake tube headers acell twin point dizzy other than that its std. the last time I saw my car there was no rust on the body work and wouldnt believe there is any now. I've seen a site with cheap plastic/fiber glass body parts for alot of old american vehicles, they would probably have the front end for alot less than a real one would cost, you don't have any ideas what site i'm referring too? The gmachineschassis looked very interesting, and very expensive... maybe i'll settle for some proper dampers, cut heavy duty springs/lowering blocks and some subframe connectors, and probably most important, new bushing and tires! ;D the balloontires and old bushings made the car feel like the front end had a life completely of it's own ;D

gen 1 is the coke bottle '67 - '69, gen 2 is the '70 - '81 and the 3rd gen is the boxy one '82-'93 and the 4th gen is the aero one '94 - '99 [all dates approximate]
plenty of inspiration in this thread already. Great cars.

Great to drive Run high 14s even with a smogger 350 (put some headers on it makes a big difference) Rust like curse word
71-74 Bullnose Camaro's are my favourite shape muscle car, would love to own one.

Matt This one had headers and lowered heads on the factory 350, according to the owner, who had not built the engine, and ran surprisingly good. Great pics guys, i've found some more

The US aftermarket for Camaros and similar cars is unbelievable. You can get anything you want for them, from reproduction steel panels to fibreglass panels or one-piece fibreglass front ends. There are all kinds of different scoops/cowl induction hoods/front air dam combinations out there, but I find that the ones which were factory Chev designs usually look the best, especially the racing ones. As an example of something found on google in under a minute, this site www.showcars-bodyparts.com/7081camaro.html has fibreglass flip fronts for 2nd gen Camaro for $695, as well as 18 different styles of fibreglass hood (bonnet), all for either hinges or bonnet pins. You can also get a front "wrap", which I assume is a 1-piece front less the hood, so that you can still open the hood normally. Edit: Just found the hand-drawn diagrams of the panels these guy are making!! Pretty amateurish but shows what is available in fibreglass. I'd go for a '70-73 RS style if I had the car and the cash.

Personally I think they're beautiful. Really like the pointy nose. IMO that one looks gash. Like offensive to my eyes type gash.
