Has the supercharger got a clutch of some kind? I didn't read the entire link but the part where he says he can get 26mpg with the supercharger is off indicates that it may be.

They do have an electric clutch, normally used on overrun to decouple the charger and prevent belt chirp You cant quite use it Mad Max stylee and standard ecu does not allow it to engage above 3000rpm as the shock loading trying to accellerate it to 5000rpm from a standstill either breaks the clutch or throws the belt   ;D Why................... you want one for the Green Meanie ;D One on ebay at the moment for over £400 ;D |

LOL. No, no. I'm going the big fat carbs route on the 'Green Meanie' (Green Meanie ;D I like it). But I do like the idea of the on and offability (is that a word.......it is now) in a Mad Max stylee. I have a couple of Mad Max switches knocking about somewhere. ;D

i suppose you could have some kind of electronic motor to spin the supercharger up to speed, or maybe a viscous coupling to accelerate it without the impact. but the effect wouldn't be worth it in all reality i wouldn't have thought.

Exactly why would you want to do that ? You want the torque off idle from the supercharger then disconnect it higher up in the rev range when the turbos are spooled up and boosting, not the other way round  |

i was going for the mad max approach as discussed earlier, get it up to 5000rpm then hit the supercharger  |
