Just had the shuv broken into outside my house litterally half hour ago, they have done both door locks and taken my hand brake lock off by bending the handbrake lever.
F**k sake is it too much to ask to have something nice that you work hard on and look after.
It needs new door locks can anyone reccomend any good ones?
I'm going home to Tamworth now as i don't want it left outside in case they come back.
i feel phisicaly sick.

i assume they left the car where it was then if your looking for more locks? then why did they take the handbrake lock off if they didnt take the car? fools.
and a vicious dog does seem like a good idea.
anyone hear on kerrang radio a while back where they had a car thief on air? it was some proper chav bint and an ex car theif rang in to tell her to stop doing it. his reason for stopping was he got caught stealing by a guy (i assume he was from saudi arabia) who didnt call the cops but chopped one (at least i think it was one) of his hands off. there is some justice then

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I think they must have been disturbed as they didnt start on the ignition barrel. There was nothing in the car to steal (no stereo or anything at all) so they were obviously going to take it. luckily it just needs new locks. The problem is now do i fix it and take it back only to find out its now a target for vandalism as they could not steel it, or do i moth ball it which spoils the point of having it?

I think of this all the time, doesnt feel like you can have anything, then theres 40k school kid carriers left everywhere. it is mad cos they're ok usually, old cars are easier to nick though. what security do you have? IMPO i doubt and hope theyd vandelise it but may have another go, i had a mate in rough part of leeds and they bent doors barrelled locks, and it was only a curse word example of a mk3 fiesta 1.1! Maybe your insurer could pick up the pieces, but its the emotional damage.

Bad news Racer86 Unfortunately it's something we all have to contend with sooner or later. A sign of the times. Sub human scum I've been relatively lucky. Only ever had one car broken into and that was a shed anyway. I have suffered at the hands of mindless vandals quite frequently though Often more costly to repair and even more pointless! You can improve the locks but the trouble is they just tend to bend the door window frames down to gain access, so they can unlock them from the inside. A good set of dead locks that can only be opened with a key are a good measure (is that what the Solex jobbies are?). It does mean having an extra set of unsightly lock barrels, but a small price to pay I suppose. The damage is done now, nothing you can do. Get it fixed, move on, and continue to enjoy it without dwelling on this incident.

Sorry to hear this fella Gutted for you They didnt get it which is a good thing, sounds like they were far from proffesional which is a good thing. I wouldnt mothball it, just make sure it is properly insured with everything done listed and an Agreed value in writing. You might want to fit some security film to the glass and some remote deadlocks. Take out the Rotor arm Fit a remote switch to the neg coil wire Hydraulic line lock with a padlock on it is good too Stand on the brakes, apply the linelock (Valve) and either lock it up or take the handle off ;D Makes it really difficult to move Detachable wheel is always good as well, failing that buy your own wheel clamp You have to think like a thief to beat them..... make their lives as difficult as possible, if they have another go then you need to lay in wait with some big mates ;D All you can hope is they nick something easier, and if they do happen to get yours, that its properly insured ;D HTH Dom PS cheers for the Text.... Yes is the answer, I`ll ring you in the week to arrange it, Cheers Dom

Cheers Hotwire really appreciate the offer. As for security it has 2 imobilisers and a handbrake lock. I used to take the steering wheel off too but got so sick of not getting back on straight i stopped (mistake). There is no way they could have taken itand ill make sure they cant, ill take the motor out if i have to! but I'm worried now that they will vandalise it if they cant have it.the jokeof it is your probably safer leaving it unlocked so they don't smash the windows.
CR500Dom no worries bout the axel its here and waiting!

Sorry to hear that, i know how it feels. I reckon the best deterent is an alarm- whilst people don't exactly jump to their feet when they hear one, they are a good deterent when the siren is placed INSIDE the cabin somewhere...... No one wants to sit in a car sorting through ignition wires with an alarm sounding off right next to their face

surely you can get an alarm and fit it to one of those ferry horns. That'll get peoples attention if the thing goes off!! ;D

Here's a long "car theif " Story and it's very true. Back in the early '70's Ford OZ bought out a car called the Falcon GTHO as a Homologation special, there were 350 built and of those 350, close to 348 of them have been stolen in their life . I had a mate ( today,a wealthy wool grower in western New south wales) who would steal these Fords from Sydney, take them to the bush, respray them and sell them in other states. He had a Ute( pick up ) painted in GTHO colours and repowered with GTHO parts which he sold to a guy one night. The new owner was a sheep shearer ,a big burly sort of bloke. As the new owner drove in to a property that night ,a car blocked him in the farms gate. Two guys jumped out of the other car and pulled him out of his Ute. 'wrong guy" they exclaimed ' and they left . The next day, another guy was found dead on the side of the main road,he had been run over by a Catterpillar Pay scraper. The murder victim bore an uncanny resemblance to the car theif. He had stolen the wrong car!,some heavies had been sent to kill him and had got the wrong guy. He still has the car he stole,it's on the bottom of a dam on his Property where it has been exposed because the water in the dam is drying up,a result of the ten year long drought. Today,a GTHO in any conditon will fetch $50,000.Top ones go for $70-100,000+ .They are a 351 Boss mustang in Falcon clothes.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
