I cannot decide what to do with this, so i'm offering it up here in case anyone wants to jump on it and take the project over. If not, it will sit in my workshop until I get round to it. Its a 1972 411, with the reg UJE411K - how cool! Super rare, and is the especially desireable estate model. Everything is there and complete, however IT HAS NO ENGINE OR GEARBOX! Ive spent some time on it and I know its in pretty good condition. The gutters are ace, the front wings fibreglass, the rear wings ok. There is some rust under the surface on the rear tailgate. The floor and sills are solid, but some previous repairs are a bit ugly. It has brand new front calipers, and various other parts. Ive been over the brakes and mechanicals a while back. If anyone is seriously interested I will happily get some more pics. Offers over £500 will start to tempt me ... as will swaps for anything cool.

Oohhhh...... what engines/boxes fit these? std beeetle but different tinware? and are they available? These are super cool cars! (I should know, as I have a 412 Estate).... Engines are shared with late camper vans and T25's, so they're not too much of a problem, but the gearbox is unique to the car. Best bet if you did want one would be to put a post up on the VW Type 3 and 4 owners club forum. About the only things shared between these and beetles are a few bits of switchgear, and the wheels.

as previously said - they run a type 4 aircooled motor. I have a spare one, which i might consider throwing in for the right price. The gearbox is unique, but I'm pretty sure you could get a bus box to work - that was my intention. I missed a 411 box on ebay a short while ago, that went for less than a fiver - so they are about though! The hard part is the clutch slave cylinder, which mounts into the top of the box - and i have TWO brand new and unused ones of these. Rhod - do you need any parts, cos i have considered breaking it up .... although i really don't want to do that. Personally, i think it'd be ace dropped over an alternative chassis ..... MX5 perhaps (yes, i have done some measurements in the past )
