Back in July, Gavin J came up with what I thought was an excellent idea for a thread: Weekly challenge thread ideaThere was also the follow-up thread hereAt the time, I didn't have my car working, so couldn't take part. But I do now, so lets try it again... Rules then: 1) Take a photo of your retro-ride in a particular location (challenge listed below) (Note- if your Retro Ride if currently off-road your daily ride will be accepted.......)2) Post it up in this thread by the last Sunday evening of the month (27/11/05) 3) As R-R is not a democracy I'll choose the winner based on my general amusement, impressed-ness and how closely it meets the demands of the challenge. 4) The winner gets to choose next weeks winner, unless they can't be bothered in which case I will again -amusing stories to go along with the photo would be a good idea. 5) Any suggestions for other challenge topics are welcome, as long as they are sensible 6) No potatochops unless they are: a) very good and I can't tell they aren't real. or b) very funny. 7) My decision is final! unless H-W kicks up a fussThis weeks challenge: I'm sure other R-Riders know how cool it is when you're cruising through town and catch a reflection of your car in a shop window, or are stuck behind a dark coloured ford focus/mk2 punto (big flat panels at the back of the car)... Post a photo of your Retro-Ride reflected in something else!I'm off out now to find a suitable reflection

Sorry, just not being with my car prevents such a challenge for me

apologies from me, it's hard taking photos when the only hours you have off work are dark!

I'd love to participate. But owing to my car being immobile, it's not gonna happen!

It was a shame the last one died a death as i found it quite entertaining, especially Goaferboy's effort with a model boat on his roof ;D But like Pillock says dark nights makes it a bit harder, maybe when the light evenings come back it will be worthwhile trying again. I reckon if its started again it needs to be ranked in a league table kind of way and run over a period of 6 months or so - whoever completes the most challenges win's something? not quite sure what though? Roll on Summer

just have a big table of thumbnails... Challenge | dave | bob | mike | 1. Car in reflection | piccie | | piccie | 2. Car underwater | piccie | piccie | | 3. Car on Uranus | piccie | | piccie |
so you can see who's entered what. mark the winners with pretty pink borders or something. i think this will be a lot better once we're over the manky weather, just not a lot of time for photos for some of us, or others have taken their cars apart for the winter.

That's a very, very good idea. I also see the point that it's a bit tougher to do at this time of year for us, but what about our antipodean friends? Hows about we start it as a monthly thing. If we have one weekend a month which isn't chucking it down with rain/sleet or snow, then there's gotta be a photo opportunity? Keep this challenge open 'til the end of november then? and we still need some more suggestions... (Keefy - car is back on the road but not without issues. going back into the garage this week... I'll update the thread when i've got enough time to fully vent my spleen.)

i think this is a great idea for a monthly thread. however I'm unable to take part cos i have no digi cam or camera phone. and if i did my pc is thrown together from bits and has no usb port. and its dark when i have the time. so you can rule me out of it from the start.

I assume this comp died a death then? Sorry, thanks for the enthusiasm, but I've not pimped the thread enough - had other stuff to do... I think I can award Reanimation with the win for this round. I liked the glitter-ball one best If enough people moan about it, and suggest some good ideas for challenges, we'll start up again in the new year... Thanks to Speedman, blownimp, TommyG and Reanimations for the entries; gavinJ for the original idea and Pillock for the revamped format idea matt
