Hi guys,
Long time no speak.Thought i'd give you an update on the goings on down the driveway.
Firstly, after the explosion of my old 131 axle,i eventually got round to fitting the replacement.Carefull positioning of the axle stands under the outer trailing arms was needed cos i recon they'd go through the floor if i put them elsewhere!
I told the guy who was buying it that i'd try to get it through the test before he came to pick it up.It needed some patches welding on the floor at both sides about 2 inch x 2 inch so i thought.Turned out to be about 10 inch x 8 inch when i'd done poking around!
The full width of the front crossmember needed plating up,so further poking left no metal to weld to on the lower joint of the front panel and of course this spread to a large hole across the lower front panel. Some how i didnt think i was going to get it through the test in time!
After a lot of grovelling, burns and neckache,i eventually got the nearside floor and the front end plated up.The new owner wanted it on the road to use as a rolling resto, but it really needs a new front panel to be done right.Ok then a full restoration. ;D ;D
Didnt get time to do the hole in the offside floor so the new owners gunna do it.I sold it with a load of new panels including front panel,2 doors and a pair of sills so he's got plenty to do over the winter!
I've been using the little 127 palio as an everyday car for the last three months which is great fun making bigger modern wibblepoo look stupid but i fancied somert a bit quicker. Was going to look at a mk1 mr2 like i used to own a few years ago but the day before i arranged to look at it another 131 turned up locally so how could i refuse?!! Got it for 100 quid less than what i sold the old one for and this ones solid! Been ziebarted from new which has saved it.Only needed the headlight aim sorting, the offside rear brake freeing off and some small holes welding up on the sills to get it through the test.Interior needs some tidying up,but i've got all the bits to sort it out.
Another happy purchase!
