Glad you approve! Yeah, I've got LOADS of the CARS brochures from about 1978 to about 1988 or so... "Man and machine in perfect harmony"

I recently rewired all my PC desk here at home, which means that I can have my scanner permanently plugged in, rather than have to go through this PITA rigmarole every time. That, coupled with my newly (nearly) organised literature collection, means I can get scans online a lot more quickly A couple of random ones: My dad used to have one of these as a company car in the late 80's - he was very proud.....

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

Good question, but if its salvageable its worth taking on. I'm so happy this sierra thread has plenty interest. and Mr B, that 3 door looks like a winner at 500 euros, it surely can only appreciate...

How rare are the 4X4's now? If it's a Mk1 then it's pretty rare, Mk2 2.8 is almost as rare and I'm afraid the Mk2 2.9's are pretty common at the moment. Colour and condition might make it more appealing though. Sadly despite rarity sometimes being attached to the cars very few people want to spend above three figures on an XR4x4. They are just seen as cheap run arounds.

But with plenty of potential surely, bagging one was my plan a year ago. A good powerful retro daily driver that can be adapted to the track. only prob i'd see is fuel costs...20-25mpg?

Its a D Reg so i guess does that make it a Mk2
Its MOT'd, and not rusty really
Its got no Plates though as the Licence plates included 555 in the numbering so you can guess what car that went on.

off the top of my head, i'm convinved thats a mk1 just had a quick look on net, but sure it is, that could be a decent machine and practical too.

Interesting stuff, my old Mk1 was a D reg and also had 555 in the plate, seems quite common. If it's not rusty then it's certainly worth a look. Should be a 2.8 too on that reg. My XR4x4 was the best car I have ever owned. Loads of room, the 4x4 system makes it fun in -any- conditions (rear wheel bias). I had koni shocks and Vogtland springs on mine (plus all new group-A bushes) and they handle like a jack russel. The turbo kits just bolt right on and give standard cossie performance - mine did a recorded 0-60 in 6.7 and 1/4 in 15.1secs. MPG - I'll admit it does sting a bit, the old MFi injection setup isn't very efficient and the 4wd saps economy. Add a turbo kit and it gets worse. A friend of mine borrowed mine just after having been reliability testing a DB9 and was shocked by the poor consumption. But you are getting audi-quattro-esc handling with big lazy torque which burbles like an engine should with the right exhaust. Also on the topic of the high seating position, I agree it is shocking. The remedy is to find some P100 seat subframes and buy the bucket seat adapters from the likes of demon tweeks. Far better.

there was a 5 door which i kept trying to drum up a bit of interest for, don't know if its sold now though. think it might of, banger boys wanted it but man werent impressed with that idea, boasted brown interior and space age trims! and a 5.0 would go straight in. must admit sierras werent my choice of car when i was 15 but my opinion has changed since i've had one. cgi.ebay.co.uk/classic-ford-sierra_W0QQitemZ4572008469QQcategoryZ9844QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemNews flash.... this is still available, i am v. tempted. Unfortunately though I agreed to 'take on' another old lancia today so i'm pushing my luck a bit.
