Every now and then something comes along which is so cool I just wish I'd thought of it. My latest love is Parcel2go. I got put onto this service by a fellow RetroRider (I forget who now, sorry non-props there) and have been using them for some time now. In case you don't know, rather than lug parcels down the post office and pay a fortune to have them sent somewhere broken and late you can have your parcels picked up fom home or work, using proper couriers and carriers and its cheaper than the post office for most items (minimum parcel is like £7.29 +VAT so for letters and small packages the post office is still the way to go). You can get quotes, book and track online. Ideal for selling your tat on forums or eBay or whatever. Parcel2go also has a module which plugs into eBay to make it even easier for you to do shipping quotes and arrange stuff to get picked up and sent when your buyers pay. You can pay them by paypal so when stuff gets paid for by your buyers you don't have to worry about transferring to your bank account first or anything Their latest additional service is a US forwarding address, so if you want to buy from US sellers on eBay or mail order or whatever you get your stuff sent to an address in Miami and they forward it to you in the UK with no handling charges, they will even group multiple items together to minimize your shipping cost, effectively giving you a full freight forwarding type service for only £19.99 a year! I am not affiliated or promoting this company other than to say that they make my life easier, and although they are not a "retro company" they can really help your retroing out. Akuu says 5/5 ***** MVP www.parcel2go.com/

Ive used them for ages, had no problems HOWEVER I ordered a set of tyres, when they arrived they were wrong, so I sent them back. Recipient refused them (f*ck knows why) and DHL then lost them. Fobbed me off for ages and eventually they accepted theyd lost them and told me to put in a claim. By then it was 2 months since id sent them the tyres back and was outside the 28 day lost parcels time period so I couldnt claim. 2 of the 4 tyres eventually showed up after alot of detective work with me finding out internal DHL phone numbers and speaking to staff at lost property directly. I'm sure the other 2 tyres are there but ive given up.
Apart from that little nightmare they have been great!

Yup, Colonelk recommended them to me when I was wanting to send him a large turbot. So much easier than lugging it to the Post Office.
I still think the P.O. is best fo smaller items, but for something weighty / big, it's great.

Can I also chime in and recommend www.senditnow.com - which is actually parcelforce. £10.99 for anything up to 32kg next day. I've used them dozens of times. They collect from you (or wherever) I've used them when buying wheels a few times (got the seller to box the wheels up though) and I've sent plenty of wiring looms out with them too. Used parcel2go a few times too, they are good but for stuff approaching 25kg, senditnow works out cheaper. Interparcel is good for shipping stuff internationally, and works on a similar basis (they arrange for DHL or whoever to pick it up from your door) Lugging a box to the post office is a mugs game now - You'll generally pay well over the odds, and have to stand in a queue. In a post office. With the general public.

Anyone know anyone good for palleted stuff (engines)? I've used "UKNEXTDAY" and they were curse word. Booked at 9am, paid about £20 extra for next day delivery, they promised to collect before midday when I called them (I had stuff to do) I waited while 12, no show. Called them up and they said "oh, sorry. Your request didn't go in the system properly, someone will be down tomorrow for it" They wouldn't refund my £20 that I paid extra The next day, a bloke turns up in a Luton transit, no tail lift (I requested a tail lift because I obviously would rather not lift an engine on a pallet up onto the back of a luton! We hefted the thing on, then they take two days to get it to it's destination, where they don't have a tail lift to get it off, so take it back to the depot and return the following monday with a tail lift! "Next day" turned into "a week", but luckily the eBay buyer of said engine seemed happy enough, even though I'd forgotten the exhaust manifold, which I sent him with senditnow.com. Booked it at 12, collected at 12:25 and delivered by 9:10am the next morning.

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

I stopped using Parcels2Go when they mixed up three parcels and sent them ALL to the wrong people... took me a nightmare to get that sorted out. :-(
Been using interparel.co.uk since then. You can check prices with a few carriers and choose the one you want, ie. I use DHL as you get a sheet with barcode to print off and stick to each box so no worries about the driver sticking the right label on at the depot etc.

In Wolverhampton there's a husband and wife team who handle all the P2Go stuff, they are great and offered to bulk together my items a few times.

I used UPS booked though interparcel (parcels2go were too pricey) to send a set of alloys. Went really smoothly and I could track the progress.
