Just had to mot mums friends car.. its a 1996 daewoo nexia has abs and air con, just failed on no abs light on start up... but isnt the abs light the brake warning light? as letting the handbrake off with the ignition on (engine not running) gives me a dimmer brake warning lamp..... which goes off when starting car, also does anyone know if the seatbelt (drivers) is the same as a mk2 astra? (not that thats easier to find) the mot is due to run out so franticly trying to figuer this out... sorry if its not retroenough cheers for any help anyone can offer Dan

Unless someones beaten you to it, take the abs fuse out and youll get the answer about it being a mixed warning light.

Id be whipping the dials out and see if there actually is a slot for the abs light, if there is the bulbs probabaly gone.
Providing the car works ok - to pass the MOT worst comes to the worst and it turns into a nightmare wire a light from the oil warning contacts on the back of the dials to the ABS warning light , then pull the ABS fuse.
The light will come on as normal upon startup and go out as well, and you wont get a warning light to fail the MOT.
Providing you want a quick bodge that is and get it sorted after.

Its basically mkII astra electrics, so i don't see why this wouldnt be applicable.... www.topbuzz.co.uk go to the information and also maintenance sections on the left side bar for how to read abs fault codes and test the system with no specialist tools etc etc.

If you can check the fault codes easily then bobs your uncle. I would have a double check that the bulbs working first though.

I would presume that it would have an abs light otherwise how can you fail the MOT for not having one? Grounds for appeal if so.
