ok, I'm getting pretty hooked on the idea of a volvo 340 / 360 (whats the difference?) 2 door euro look. ne one got pics? (did they ever do a GT or turbo or wat ever??) what engines did they have?
i think slammed to the floor, roof rack, a window fulla stickers, some deep dish alloys with stretched rubber.... could look pretty cool? maybe a modern volvo turbo lump.... what do you guys think?

340 = 1400 / 1700cc 360 = 2000cc.
I think.
Slam a B230ET in one for proper comedy value.

The 1700 was a renner engine wasn't it? Bigger version of the 5 engine. Turbo off a GT turbo anyone?

Buy a Volvo. Buy a Volvo. Buy a Volvo.
Cool cars. Rear wheel drive with gearboxes at the back I think!

340's had the Renault 1.4 engine with either a 4 speed manual of a variable speed auto which was total pants. 2 or 4 door versions. 360 had the 2 litre Volvo engine with a 5 speed manual - much better. Best model AFAIR was the 360 GLT. There was also a 340 1.7 (Renault) which was supposed to be the best compromise between speed and handling.
They were never a car that appealled to me but each to their own.

You still see quite a few of them around don't you? One of those cars that doesn't really date, it just exists. Think I prefer the earlier ones without body-colour bumpers, like that gold one just above. I occasionally see a clean GLT of this era.
Didn't really early ones have the Daf type CVT gearbox? Also had much uglier headlamps, haven't seen one that style for yonks.

There is a Volvo 360GLT that looks to be abandoned at an MOT center near where I work,.. wonder what they want for it.....

isn't there something odd about the CVT gearbox? My mate's neighbour has one and he reckons it can go just as fast in reverse as forwards, as it just swaps the direction of the output shaft rather than having a specific reverse gear. might of course be complete twaddle
