A long time ago I bought I Jada toys 240Z model. Which got broke By broke I mean the missus knocked it off a shelf. ;D Anyway, since then it got shoved in some high place in my workshop and forgotten about. Til it fell on my head. So I decided to crack out the paint and filler and have a crack. The mirrors and racey headlight covers were missing presumed dead, so I will make some headlamps for it, otherewise its all go! Take one mangy datsun model.. Primer.. Paint! thats just the first coat. More laters! Rich

Damn paint went all funny and I wasn't happy with it at all. So.. Stripping time! Almost back to metal, just the rest of the OG paint to eat through more or less. But I kinda like the patina its got, although I do want a nice shiny model Rich

Wow - that looks awesome ! The paint make it look really dirty - Grrrrrr. I would be tempted to try and find another model and make that into my mint masterpiece, leave this one as the ultimate Japanese rat rod.

Gonna see if any of the roof strips better as that was ruining that look Rich

Haha! I have no idea why it does it, all the axles seem ok. I just think that might be how they were. I'll be able to put some pics of the Austin A35 I did up soon as soon as the paint dries so I can do the little bits of detail Rich

its really, really important to properly strip down the original paint on a model otherwise you'll rarely, if ever, get a non-reactive finish! and i hope it wont annoy you if i tell you, Jada make the 240 in orange as well make sure you make a little subway ring for it btw

That looks ace! Regarding the paint going funny, I had the same problem with a Ducati I built, I sprayed it with an enamel base coat, then added a few coats of clear lacquer, looked good but I made the stupid mistake of giving it "one last coat for that extra deep shine" you can image my horror as all the clear coat started to crinkle....I worked out that it must be a bit of the propellant that came out first and acted like paint stripper, so now I always give the tin a quick blast into fresh air before each coat. Managed to (just about) redeem the situation though...thankfully!
