It wouldn't half be interesting, well, if the modern one's a 1600 or similar, even a 1400, but if it's some basic spec one then don't bother! A 1600 Zetec would be cool in a mkI, actually isn't there a racing Fiesta with one that was in a very early issue of Retro Cars? That thing was cool, so it yours Sammyboy, the paint kind of suits it!  |

hahaha Dead Kennadys and the Ramones ;D OOOOOh and funny you should mention it, on the spotlams one of them has "Holiday in Cambodia" the other has "To tough to die" covered up the chep logo on them  plenty of mk1's with the zetech lump personally id prefer stupid power out of a X'flow or a decent engine.....like a volvo |

You could keep it simple and use the 960's own gearbox, narrow the back axle, shorten the propshaft, and those'll do too, they were massively over-engineered to handle far more power and torque than Volvo ever expected them to, so even if you were to tinker with the engine a bit I don't think you'd break either of them in a hurry. The 740 turbo engine would be pretty cool all the same, personally I'd go for the later 940 turbo one, roughly the same engine but the 9 series are newer, they made them up the mid 90s, so you'll have less bother finding a decent, low-ish mileage engine, although Volvo 4 cylinders go past 250, 000 miles without a problem as long as they're serviced and all the rest, so a higher mileage one could still be tuned to good effect. |

All sounds extaordinarily difficult to me, just get a zetec and a 5-speed box! otherwise you'll end up with a big pile of bits and a headache.

yeh id want a 960 3.0 withe the manual box (M90) good for 400 horses otherwise a late 940 turbo would do (the Komfort engine) we had one with 350,000 on it still running perfect, milage doesnt matter to a volvo and my mates 940 turbo will soon be treated to 29psi and ive allready decided I'm not touching a zetech if another ford engine goes in it will be a 1600 X'flow |
