And some drainpipe in two weeks at home. He beat the new alloy panels over the old steel ones then removed them and rivetted the new ones in place. Leaving it in gorgeous naked alloy... ;D A top bloke called Charlie, it had a Rover in it and wasn't particularly fast or competitive, but he was having a ball. It kind of looked like a WW2 bomber going off down the strip...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

so where the panels are over the pillars, hes left the pillar structure in right?
but all the actual panel like roofskin, door, wings, rear quarters etc etc are all removed and replaced with his alloy version
(just want to clarify what hes done cos i think that is absolutely awesome)

Rivets rule, I think he'd picked off the outer panels by undoing the spot welds, he said he'd only saved 60kg over the standard body. I know that's a lot but it would suggest the inner skeleton is still there. From what I could see there was certainly what looked like inner panel work in places. Though it was a mix of frame and original floorpan with holes everywhere.
The roof was an original panel and it seemed he'd patched onto this working his way down, in all honesty I was stood there congratulating him on such a great car... With my jaw following me around on the floor.
;D ;D ;D Car of a great trip for me. That and the standard looking Capri that ran 11.3 sec of course!
