Well done !! Will definitely need to keep us updated on this one . Spec sheet & driving experience please . π Thanks Not much spec to speak of really, the only option you can get is a first aid/safety pack & I didnt order that lol. Had my first proper drive of it this morning, still not supposed to use the redline so havent been doing that. However, even not fully ringing it's neck the hype is real. I would be surprised if anything was faster down a b road, it's ridiculous. Every road test iβve seen/read says the same kinda thing . Possibly the last of this type of car & definitely a future classic . Enjoy

Enjoy I thought I had gone into a corner a bit hot & in all honesty I think I could have gone in 20mph faster and it wouldnt have been on the edge of grip lol. It's one of those car's where you will run out of tallent before the car does. Turned the auto rev matching on and it works great, set's the rev's up perfect for the down change. I hope it's not the last of it's type, but it's been so many years since something like this was built I have a feeling you could be right. Talking to the dealer, I don't think Toyota expected it to get the reception it did. Yes it's a very modern car, but it's not got anything it didnt need on it. I spent a good few minutes looking for the rear wiper switch on Tuesday, hasnt got a rear wiper.

So, house sold. Golf moved into long term storage today. Mini is provisionaly sold waiting for my mate's tax bill to come in. Yaris is staying. New house purchase hopefully going through, fingers crossed the day we get the keys we can get the architect in to start drawing up some plans as we have some big plans. Rental house lined up. So expect to see no progress on the mk2, most likely be a replacement for the Mini later in the year in the shape of a cheap large estate car for building supplies I would love to say this time next year, the mk2 will be sat in a brand new large garage... but that depends how nice the local council is with planning haha.

Congratulations so far Joe.
Fingers crossed on the garage.
Not sure how it will be situated on the site, but if you place it in a way that you can add a carport later, like the one I built last year, it could add a good 6x5 meters of dry space.

Thanks mate, not 100% where the garage will be yet as it depends on planning & the architect. If it's where I have planned, it will be a 8mx3.5m integral on the side. If not who knows lol.

How are you finding the Yaris? A. as a standalone car and B. in comparison to the Mustang It's great, honestly I don't know what I could replace it with. I was talking to Mrs about what she would do if we ever won the lottery and she asked me what car I would get and I said I'd keep the Yaris π€£. It's completely different to the Mustang in just about every conceivable way. It's nearly as fast and on b roads it would abliterate one. Had full family in it without too much of a issue. So that's a 7 & 1 year old in the back and me and the wife in the front with a pram in the boot. I have a couple of gripes with it, visibility is shocking as rear view mirror is in my way and the seat won't go low enough. Also no cd player. Β£400 will have both the car issues fixed as you can get a mirror riser and lowered seat brackets. Cd player I can't fix so mainly use dab.

That's great to hear. I've read a lot about the 2 issues you mention and the fixes so I'm sure you will get those sorted.
You have answered my other question about fitting the kids in as well. In a similar move to you I just ordered my first ever new car last week. I'm not going to reveal it yet until I get the confirmation that the order has been accepted but both the GR Yaris and the 5.0 Mustang were on my very short list. I have gone another way though.
Congratulations on getting it. It really is a special thing and most likely the last homologation special (even if the rally car never actually ran) ever on sale as a free to order production vehicle.
As others have mentioned, please do keep us up to speed on how you get on with it. Even better, join us over in the 2000 plus space and do a thread on it. Something this special is surely of interest.

Something this special is surely of interest. I'll not try to guess as I have no idea what it might be, but I'm intrigued. Not sure there will be much interest in the GR having its own thread as all I will realistically be doing is putting petrol in it lol. Thank you, still can't believe I managed to get one. People who aren't into cars can't understand why I would sell a Mustang to get a Yaris. But they don't seem to realise that the GR is most likely the last of its kind and a very special little thing.

Mini is Sold and now in Taunton, very nice couple had a very long day! Got on the train at 8.30am & they got home at 11pm. Currently buying a house, so I'd love to say the money was going on the awesome Hilux I have seen for sale but sadly it's going towards stamp duty. Yay.
Good news is, I should have a bit bigger garage than I did have in the next 2 months. So I can not work on my Golf in that, haha.

Really glad to see your home ownership is progressing. Congratulations. Thanks mate, it's not the one we were buying as 6 months in & 3 missed completion dates we had no choice but to withdraw from the purchase. Good thing is, this one is already 5 bedrooms & already has a garage so much less work It will do for the next 10 years (for school catchment reasons) and then we can (maybe) look for our forever home (this will be our 3rd in 13 years lol)

1 year update, Golf is now at our new house & I have done nothing with it again.
GR is aproaching 2y/o & 3k miles lol. I did take my cousin for a blast around some B roads in Mexico & I'm not sure which one of us was more scared, no where near the limit of the car but near the limit of what I was comfortable with lol.
Mrs Peugeot Tepee thing was replaced a year ago with a CRV, probably one of the worst car's I have bought & will be getting tradded in. Thinking about selling the GR & CRV, replacing the main car with a VW ID.3 & the other with a Suzuki Swift Sport. Would have money left over to put towards an extension. Dunno, brain and heart arguing atm.
