if you have a t25, you should be going down the simple vw 1.9 turbo route. bolt on swop almost. edit, didnt see that your goin mid mount. mid mounted is not a big problem, use a 914 box.. VAG 1.9GTD or TDI's are rock solid and loads of tuning parts available..

I think its a pug diesel in the granny scopio deisels? me dad had a few 2.5Td granny taxis, they fly (120mph) never wear out, sound really diesely with a turbo whistle that always had me looking in the mirrors for cop cars in the distance and return over 50mpg in the big ol granny doing round town taxi work.

Pug in the Mk2s i know, later ones used the VM, not a fan of the larger 2.2/2.3 and 2.5s TBH, had quite a few in LDVs and the like, not as revvy as the smaller 1.8/1,9 IMHO

Its a 2.5 TD VM in my Range Rover as it happens, wonder if its the same engine? seems to shift the RR along alright as well and is doing about 28mpg, your right though, not very revvy, redlines about 4000 and something apparently although i havent needed to take it over 3000rpm and its keeping up with the traffic ok.

Which simple diesel engine is best? Detroit Diesel 71 series of course! Main reasons for this: 1) It's the motor which gave the hot-rodding world the 6/71 supercharger! 2) They live forever. 3) They're 2-stroke, so they give awesome power for their size 4) They're available with just a supercharger or with both turbos and supercharger, and just about every number of cylinders you can name from 1 to 24. The 71 series is named because each cylinder has a displacement of 71 cubic inches, so the 6/71 (where the hot-rod blowers come from) is a 426ci six-cylinder! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_71Here's one that's been sitting un-used in a partially-sunken boat for a while, starts up after a few minutes of cranking and then runs all day like a brand new one.

Also, this is a 53-series, which is the 71's little baby brother. Screams like the fastest GT car in the world when it's flat-out, even though you're only doing 30mph! ;D ;D ;D
I want to drive this truck, sounds awesome!

I think I'd have to agree with the XUD thing but I don't know if you're going to get the same performance/returns from one in a t25 as you would a 205/306 or whatever, think LDV pilot with a turbo. Fair enough you could up the fuel and boost but that means you're not going to get high 30's (average around 35-41 normally aspirated in a Pilot where cruising speed is around 40-50mph)
don't forget it takes 4 times the power to go twice the speed. (IIRC)
