This morning, I walk out the house, get in the Lupo and turn the key. Nothing. I turn it again Nothing. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Then I remember that I took the engine out last week, slap my head and walk down the drive to my borrowed 106 Another one from a few months ago, when I serviced my mums Ka. I dropped the oil, and in removing the sump plug, it landed in some dusty gravel. I put it on the wall for safe keeping, removed the oil filter (easier said than done on a Ka) and fitted the new one. Then I proceeded to pour 3 litres of 5w30 in, while looking at the sump plug thinking "I must give that a wipe before it goes back in" I check the dipstick - nothing, so pour another litre in before realising my mistake. I'm normally not a complete moron.

when i changed the head a couple of weeks back i started it up and ran it for 20 seconds, then thought to myself,
'I hope i've done this right and it doesn't start getting too hot, oh ****, not put any water in yet'
also forgot to tighten my wheel bolts too many times

Tried for about 5 min to start a car i'd removed the king lead from.
Started engine with no rocker cover
Left socket on crank pully and started engine
Left locking wheel key on one of the nuts and drove off (lucky it fell off at the end of the drive and got found about a month later (3 days after i'd paid £20 to have the set removed because i'd lost the key ;D )

Forgot to do the tensioner up after I had fitted a twin cam head on my metro. After driving it to work I took a look and the cam belt was halfway off the pulleys. "What the.......ohhhhhhhh!"

1) Towed my 'spares' B310 Sunny down the road to a new address, forgetting to do up the wheel nuts after robbing the front brake discs for my daily B310 (yes, I was a skint student, and spare B310s was cheaper than a new set of discs!). Anyway, a couple of hundred yeards down the road, there's a bang and the car lurches as front wheel disembarkes from the towed car, rolls serenely passed me, and into the front garden where a poor chap was cutting his grass.
2) Same 'spares' B310 needed to be moved from the car park as the council were getting anooyed by the eyesore. No-one around to help me push it, so instead I chucked the battery in from my daily, and set about driving it round the back next to the garages. However, after being stood a good couple of month, the rear drums were stuck on, so judicious use of the throttle in reverse was needed to 'break free', whereupon the Sunny shot backwards across the carpark to a row of neighbours cars. Applying the brakes did nothing (remember the aforementioned 'theft' of the brake discs for my daily?), so instead selected 'DRIVE' (did I mention it was an auto?) so that instead of shooting backwards, I shot forwards, panicked, and drove straight through a brick wall.

My mum and dads drive is on a steep downhill slope. When I was changing the oil on my old 106 I had it up on ramps to get the drain plug out. Dropped the oil, put the new filter on and put the sump plug back in. Then I stupidly though "damn it needs to be level to fill it to the right level" so I jumped in, fired it up and reversed off the ramps onto the street lol.

Not my own forgetfulness, but the garage who changed a split steering rack boot on the fiorino for the mot. Seems that not only had the guy forgot to put the speedo cable back in (taken out for better access, so we quickly put it back in), he had also forgotten where he had put his tools. this was found a month later ;D ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/merc-owner/SP_A0789.jpg)

I forgot a large caravan I had purchased the day before was quite tall. I drove it into a height-restricted (but completely outdoor) car park. I removed about 50% of the roof
*Forgot* about polarity and connected a battery back-to-front and fried a £2000 dash display
Changed the oil in a car but forgot to refill with oil. Fired it up and it was noisy so left it running and went to find a second opinion - it survived OK
Changed the oil in a manual gearbox. Went for a drive and remembered I hadn't refilled it either when it started getting noisy - it survived OK
All a long time ago
