;D I went caravaning with some friends for a nice stress free weekend. On saturday we heard some great sounds coming from Long Marston, so we decided to have a look..... fatal! As soon as I saw it was a "Run What Ya Brung" Weekend, the temptation was just too great. After giving myself reasons why I shouldn't do it, I thought, curse word it and promtly paid my £15 quid for unlimited runs. I went off to get rid off my stress....and petrol. Bloody good fun!! My fastest time was 17.44 seconds for the 1/4 mile run, not too bad for a 36 year old car. I am after a new engine soon with some mods, so hopefully I can beat it perhaps next year! The next "Run What Ya Brung" is on October 29th and 30th 2005, plus Drag Racing Demo's, Shakespeare Street Car Challenge, Jet Cars, Rocket Cars and Halloween Ball. Visit: www.halloweenshowdown.co.uk/ We could have our own Retro Car Challenge??? I will try and post some pictures of the retro cars there

Good to see someone else have some fun on the strip, ;D,its cheap and fun but as said it can get expensive chasing numbers as I'm looking at my options for the next step current bet is 13.56 in the GTM its all about beating your own Personal Best. last time i went dragging i was trying to improve my starts and get my 60ft times down which i did shame a ballsed up the rest of the run WEST

My essex engine is on its way out, I do have another engine to rebuild, but its got to be practical enough to tow my caravan. I would love to fit triple carbs or a holley carb and have a fast road cam, but fuel is already expensive My cousin keeps telling me to fit the 2.9 Ford Granada Scorpio engine, the same as they fitted to the Middlebridge Scimitar, but I have no idea of gearbox and electrics, ECU etc. A popular mod for Scimitars is fitting the Rover 3.5 V8 engine. I will have to see how the money goes, as I have been made redundant and have just started a 2 year college course. Dave

how busy was it there? i've always wanted to do dedicated rwyb (instead of squeezing a few runs in at bugjam) but after seeing the Santa Pod queue on their days, you pay a daft amount of sit around most of the day. did you get a decent amount of quarter-mileage?

I would love to fit triple carbs or a holley carb e . Dave not to mention triple carbs are about £700-£1000 if your talking pukka ford setup ready to go. from what ive heard a holley doesnt make to much difference and the weber DFI5 isnt worth the hastle. best bet is a well set up DGAS with opened out venturies.

The Saturday was very quiet at Shakespeare Raceway. I actually met some people who had driven from Santa Pod, saying there was a hour and a half wait to get on the drag strip! I had to wait no more than 10 minutes ) I only did four runs as I was running on petrol fumes, but one guy did 18 runs!!
