Hey all,
Ive been offered a cheap T4 with a fubar'd 2.0 petrol engine, now ive asked in other places but am after a bit more info.
ive got if i want it a PAS steering rack so that should be an easy fit.
BUT the big question if i get the van what engine to fit..
lot of people are saying the best bet is an ABF engine [2.0 16v with k-jetronic]
what do y'all think???
got to be cost effective to get it and hopefully easy to fit.
the only issue i can think of is the sump/dipstick and the ecu stuff...but i wondered if i can use the existing sump?
any info would be good before i buy it
ta
dan
ill stick some pics up later

What management is it on at the moment? I'm guessing Motronic/Digifant. There's no reason to switch from that to Kjet. Besides, the ABF didn't have Kjet from the factory, VW had ditched it by then.
If you do choose to put the Kjet in, there's no real electronics. It's just a case of hooking up all the pipes correctly and running 12v to a couple of things.
It's probable the van motor is an 8v variant of the 2.0. Converting that to a 16v like the ABF is pretty straightforward, keep as much of the original setup as possible.

I'm not wanting to put kjet on especially, i was told its what the abf came with...
its def an 8v 2.0 petrol AAC, so what would be a fairly easy swap???

ABF has digifant 3 EFi, has got a lambda, dual knock sensors, sequential injection so they're suprizingly good on fuel. 150bhp stock. although its digifant, it will still need the entire engine loom and ecu etc changing (can keep fuel pump though) if the van is on digifant 2. Found in mk3 golfs, mk4 passats, mk1 seat toledos and mk2 seat ibiza cupras.
9A is the earlier 2.0 16v which ran on KE-motronic (basically a slightly more advanced version of K-jetronic) with a lambda probe and cat converter to control emissions. found in corrados and mk3 passats
