Just picked this up from a local family. Owned by the same chap for 14 years and a much loved member of the family. Ive really only bought it for breaking. My 100 Avant could use a nice donor to keep it on the road. Unfortunately my Avant is only a 4 cylinder so many parts anr't interchangable. That means the sexy Fuchs wont fit. I was towed home by the wife (no tax or MOT on the CS) but had the engine running so the brakes and steering would still be assisted. Wow, what a lovely bark from the 5 cylinder engine. It drove the last 100 yards under its own power, up and onto the drive. These 5 cylinder audis are real mean machines and nothing like the Golf engined 4 cylinder Avant I own. I got into that CS a boy, and left it a man . I havent ruled out a short resto on the CS. It only failed its last MOT on a little welding, a shock absorber and the steering rack and should be pretty cheap to MOT again but the interior has been heavily smoked in and full of fag ends and ash, the drivers seat has collapsed and cosmetically the car is quite poor. Various bumps, patches of surface rust and abrasions cover its aerodynamic body and it will require quite a bit of remedial work to get it up to spec. A nice leather interior could easily be transferred across I guess.... On the plus side its had quite a bit of money spent on it recently, including a brand new petrol tank and windscreen. Unfortuntely it didnt come with any sort of history, a big wad of receipts could well help to secure its future. Minging... Anyway, my Allegro has gone off for a month or so to have a little work done so the CS is going into a nice warm garage while its fate is decided. Ill have to move some stuff about though, the CS is so much larger that the Allegro and I'm going to have to move a few engines to get it in!

Looks worth saving mate, give it a good clean ( esp. the interior ) then decide. They really are cracking motors and I can't personally remember the last time I saw one.. :-o BTW - if you do break it, first dibs on the fuchs please !

If it gets broken the Fuchs will be for sale, I know how much they are worth though- thats the main reason I bought it!

I,ve got a very clean and hardly worn light grey interior out of a Audi 80 that might fit that a treat? very cheap as it is surplus to requirements!!!

These things are real honeys, I love em. The CS is super-rare and an interesting car in its own right. I hope you can make it live on! I suspect most of these were bummed for their wheels long ago. I bet with a hardcore scrubbing session you could turn it into a really nice motor, it certainly looks quite original. A predictable answer but thats what I think!

That is a very rare car!! There was only approx 220 of the 100 CS made, basically to use up the last of the pre-facelift bodyshells (non-flush door handles & earlier dash). From new they had factory lowered suspension, red brake calipers, Fuchs alloys & some sportier seats. I had one of these about 4 years ago & wish I still had it. Here's my old one... From memory, these didn't sell too well, mainly because they were quite expensive when new. But still my favourite FWD car ever!!!

batteries under the back seat IIRC Are they?? I can't remember that at all!! Not that i'm saying they're not, either, can't ever remember needing to access the battery on mine. My guess would have been under the front scuttle. I know they're under the back seat on some 7-series BMW's.

The battery on my 100 CC Avant is under a plastic cover below the windscreen, under the bonnet. Theres an MOTd 100CS in good condition for sale on the Audi forum thats about to be raped for its alloys and dash. Maybe I should buy that one minus its wheels for peanuts and transfer all the goodies across to this one... Dunno.. As far as I know 80 seats wont fit, but thanks for the offer! Anyway, ive given the outside a good clean and its come up quite well. Theres less dents than I anticipated but every panel is afflicted with them, theres also a bit of a scrape down the N/S/R wing. Mmm.. clean! I did have to get rid of these ASAP. Disgusting! I hosed the wheel arches down and removed a huge amount of mud. Everything was going swimmingly until a large peice of underseal fell from the O/S/R arch. Attatched to it was a chunk of rust More probing revealed a large hole behind the filler cap.. curse word. I'm hoping that this is the "welding" that needed doing, a brief check underneath hasnt found any other corrosion. Looks very tricky to do too. Ill have to take the wheel off and have a proper probe. I had to remove a huge amount of junk from the garage to get the CS in and out of the way. Most of the junk evicted ended up in the shed. These engines ended up on the lawn for a while, but fortunately I got them into the shed before the wife saw them. One of them fell over however and before I knew it I had a fatality on my hands.. I wanted a petrol strimmer anyway....

My old 200 had the battery under the back seat as you describe. Maybe the 5-cyl ones have it under the seat as the engine bay in them is a bit more full of clutter.

Ive had chance to have a proper poke about and it isnt great news..
The rust hole around the fuel filler has been thouroughly poked and prodded and about half of the inner wing has fallen out, the chassis under the rear seat also needs welding, both sides.
Ive decided to go back to the original plan and break it up for spares. Ive started a parts for sale thread for anyone interested in bits and pieces. Much of this should find its way onto my 100 CC Avant. Mmmm, leather steering wheel and mudflaps!
Someone already has first refusal on the FUCH alloys I'm afraid, someone over on the Audi forum. If it falls through ill let people know.
